Fabulous Friday Venetian Romance "Love" scrapbook layout

  Happy Friday and thanks so much for stopping in today!!  My project for Fabulous Friday this week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog is this traditional 12" x 12" scrapbook layout with a non-traditional color scheme.  I know tangerine tango isn't really a color you would associate with love, but I just went crazy over the Venetian Romance designer papers featuring this color and had to use it on my clean and simple layout.... I think I will print my pictures in sepia tone when I put them on my page.

   You may notice the lack of stamping on my page... the designer papers are so pretty that I didn't think I needed it, especially since I decided to use my Big Shot to create my title.  The naturals ivory card stock in the background adds some nice contrast to the very vanilla cardstock photo mats, too.  And with a 6" x 6" focal piece I can either add a large photo or collage several smaller ones... leaving me some versatility with this page since I haven't chosen my photos for it yet.

    The "love" was cut out of soft suede card stock using the Expressions framelits that is a carryover item from the Holiday catalog.  I opted to add a textured piece of very vanilla card stock (created with the Big Shot and my Square Lattice textured impressions folder) behind it which had been sponged lightly with crumb cake ink to age it a little.  

 

  And this simple embellishment of three pearls really accents the designer paper on this part of the layout.  To keep the photographs as the main focus of the layout, I simply added some linen thread for texture along with some antique brads to finish out the page.  Simple but elegant... I really like how this page turned out.  What do you think?

Happy Fall, Y'All!!!

  Happy Friday and "Happy Fall, Y'all!" as we like to say in the South.  This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring fall-themed projects for Fabulous Friday...and here's mine:

   I love this time of year... the leaves are exploding with colors like crushed curry, cajun craze and cherry cobbler and there is a crisp freshness in the air as the warm temperatures of summer fade.  Fall is a time to sip hot apple cider and slip on a big comfy sweater while you jump in a pile of leaves.  Don't you love it?!  Last weekend my Mom, Kelsey and Brandon and I drove up to the Peaks of Otter which is along the Blue Ridge Parkway about half an hour from my house for a hike around the small lake in front of the Lodge and a picnic lunch.  The leaves had not quite begun to turn but the temperatures sure did feel like Fall. 

  The photos I took were perfect for the Fall scrapbook page I created with our My Digital Studio digital design software this week.  I used the "Day of Gratitude" brush stamp set and a color palette of crushed curry (with opacity set to 50% for the background page), cherry cobbler, cajun craze and always artichoke.  My only "embellishment" is the punch piece - I used the decorative label punch, extra large oval punch, circle punch and two brass brads.  I wanted to keep the page simple so the pictures would really stand out.. what do you think?  I'm really happy with the way it turned out!

Back-to-School MDS layout for Fabulous Friday

  Happy Friday!  This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring back-to-school projects for Fabulous Friday.  My kids started school on Tuesday this week and I decided to make a scrapbook page in My Digital Studio (MDS) using a great layout by Julie Bonner that I found on Pinterest... see that below.  I used a bunch of punches to create this page so it came together pretty fast once I got all the smaller circles lined up!

Happy Father's Day!!!

   Happy Father's Day!  We are celebrating two Fathers in my family today... my wonderful husband Joe and my dear old Dad.  I made this card for Joe using the Dude, You're Welcome stamp kit and embellished with texture from the Big Shot Square Lattice textured impressions folder, 7/16" natural trim and a few silver 1/8" mini brads.  The circles were easily cut out using the new Circles Collection framelits and my Big Shot.  My color combination includes the new baked brown sugar, night of navy, garden green, so saffron and whisper white... very manly, don't you think?!

  I am very blessed that Joe is such a wonderful husband and loving father to our kids and also that my father (coincidentally also named Joe) is still healthy and a part of our lives.  I hope you are able to spend some time with the special Fathers in your life today!

 

Altered picture frame art projects from Diva Day

  So are you ready to see what we created during Diva Day?  I am an avid fan of Pinterest and have been seeing tons of great altered picture frames lately... so that was our project.  I had all of my new sneak peek products out (available beginning June 1st when the new catalog debuts!!) as well as all current product for us to use and these are what Jennifer and I came up with...

  Jennifer created this great layout for a family photo... it features the beautiful designer papers found in the Soho Subway pack.  I love the medallion and banner she created along with the monogram letter.  Great job!

 

  I went in a little bit different direction with mine... I created a sampler art piece that I have on display in my stamping studio.  I just love the bright colors of the Quatrefancy specialty designer paper pack - it makes me happy!!  I used a ton of punches, Big Shot accessories and rhinestone jewels in addition to the Creative Elements and new Mosaic Madness stamp sets.  These were so much fun to make so be prepared to see more in the future!

A fun My Digital Studio scrapbook page
