February 2023 Stampers Dozen Blog Hop: Showcasing the Framed Florets bundle

  This month on the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop we are featuring our favorite bundles from the Spring mini catalog and I decided to make a set of cards featuring the bundle and the soon to be retiring 2021-2023 In Color collection.

  Here is my first card - it is a fun fold called the Bay Window. It can be sent flat in an envelope, but then opened up with the flap tucked under the embellishment and it is 3-D. How fun! I kept mine pretty simple, using the various dies in the collection to cut out the oval, frame and flower images. I also embellished with a few pearls.  Believe it or not, this is not a difficult card to make.  I got the idea from this blog - Create with Dee - but changed the dimensions to make it easier for myself - all 3 panels of the "bay window" are equal in size on my card:

Dimensions

Base card - Soft Succulent CS 11" x 4-1/4" scored at 1/2", 2", 3-1/2", 5" and 5-1/2"

Inside panel - Basic White CS 5-1/4" x 4"

DSP panels - (4) 4" x 1-1/4" 

 

  Here is a look at the inside of the card. The key is to pop something on the right side of the inside of the card with dimensionals so that you can anchor the flap from the front cover underneath to hold the card open. I used a piece cut out with the Lasting Label punch, which I embellished with various images from the stamp set that were cut out using the dies.  For all the flowers on this card I used both Polished Pink Stampin' Blends. The leaves were colored with both Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends and the Light Evening Evergreen Stampin' Blend.  

 

 

  And this is my second card. Does the layout look familiar? I CASE'd myself from the Love Cats card I posted here.  I used several of the dies to cut out the heart frame, oval frame and flower image. All images were colored using the Polished Pink, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends. 

 

  Here is a view of the inside of the card. I left it blank (which gives me more options for sending since the front sentiment isn't specific) but added one of the other floral images which I colored to match the front. I am happy with the way these cards turned out and love this Framed Florets bundle!

Sunday Fun Day: Petal Park bundle pinwheel tower fun fold card

  Hello and Happy Sunday!  This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing projects made with our favorite bundles from the Spring mini catalog.  Today's card features the Petal Park bundle. You may remember I shared some mini note cards back in this blog post.   Today's card is a fun fold called a pinwheel tower card. I saw it here on Dee Slater's blog and she has a great video to show you how to make it.  If you'd like to know dimensions for this card, please find them further down in this post.

  This card wasn't that difficult to put together once I had everything cut.  Please find the dimensions below.

Base card - 5-3/4" x 4-1/4", scored at 3/4, 1-1/2", 2-1/4" and 3" on the long side of the CS

Additional base card pieces - Three (3) of the same color CS as above 4/1/4" x 2-3/4"

 Here are views of each side of the pinwheel. I love how I was able to use so many different patterns from the Regency Park DSP which coordinates beautifully with the Petal Park bundle. Sunday Fun Day: Dainty Flowers fun fold cards

  Hello and Happy Sunday!  This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing projects made with our favorite DSP from the Spring mini catalog or Sale-a-Bration. I am definitely a HUGE fan of the Dainty Flowers DSP that is an SAB selection with a qualifying $50 order.  You may remember the set of cards and matching notebook that I shared last month (see that post here).  For today's project I decided to use a Diagonal Z-Fold that my new stamping friend Rita shared with me recently (see that blog post by Peggy Noe here).  I did change up the dimensions on my card a teeny bit... I'll share those down below.  This is a 4-1/4" square card that fits in an A2 envelope so won't cost more in postage. I love the designs in this DSP so much I had to make two different cards. This way you can see four of the patterns in this pack. Which is your favorite?

  This card wasn't that difficult to put together once I had everything cut.  Please see the dimensions below. I did change up the smaller card to be square rather than rectangular, so the dimensions are different than in Peggy's post. This picture shows how the card closes. The diagonal was cut from the fold down to a corner, super easy to do with our stampin' trimmer.

 

Dimensions:

Base card - 8-1/2" x 4-1/4", scored at 4-1/4" and cut on an angle from the fold to a corner

DSP - 3-3/4" square, cut in half on the diagonal

Inside panel - 4" x 4" basic white CS

Mini card - 7" x 3-1/2", scored at 3-1/2"

DSP mini card panel - 3-1/4" x 3-1/4"

Inside panel of mini card - 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" basic white CS

Embellish as desired!

 

 

  For this first card I used Rich Razzleberry card stock for my base and mats. The fun little flower was created using the Petal Park builder punch. Check out this blog post here from last month where I showed steps to create one. I used Fresh Freesia and Evening Evergreen card stock from the 2021-2023 In Color collection to create it. The center of the flower is from the Adhesive Backed Milky Dots jewels in the Spring mini catalog. 

 

 

  For this card I went with Old Olive for the card base and mats.  I also paired it with Starry Sky card stock to mat the stamped piece and strip across the front to anchor it.  I stamped the little flower on the piece cut with the Lasting Label punch knowing it would not fully fit on the piece. I then stamped the flower again on a piece of scrap basic white card stock, colored it with the solid image stamps, and then fussy cut it to mount on top. Easy-peasey!

TCH #56 - Pink and Red Valentine's Day Bridge card featuring Love Cats

  Hello and Happy Wednesday!  I am on a roll this week with blog challenge cards.  Today I am sharing a card that I designed for the Color Hues challenge to use Pink and Red on a card. Those colors are perfect for Valentine's Day and I just had to use the Love Cats stamp set. I have had a lot of fun making bridge cards, so here is another one (in case you missed my post yesterday, see that here). I chose to use two In Colors for my card - Polished Pink and Sweet Sorbet. I think they work great together!

  If you are wondering how to make a Bridge card, be sure to check out my Painted Seasons Bridge Birthday card blog post here for the card shown above that I shared back in March 2019 - it includes the dimensions I used for making a bridge card.  You can also check out my Hello Ladybug card from earlier this week here.

 

 

  This card is dimensional, but also folds flat to fit easily into an A2 envelope. I love how these two In Colors from separate years work so well together! If you love Polished Pink, make sure you stock up because it is retiring at the end of April.  Sweet Sorbet is a soft red that reminds me of strawberries and definitely has undertones of pink.

 

 

  Here is a close-up of the cat image that I used on the bridge panel. I used a retired 2" circle punch to cut it out and then matted it with a circle cut using the Decorative Circle punch.  I colored the little heart with a Sweet Sorbet stampin' write marker.  I used my Tuxedo Black ink for all the cat images and sentiments, but the one on the front just didn't turn out dark enough so I did go back and color it in with a basic black marker. 

 

 

  Here's a shot of the inside of the card. I inked the sentiment and stamped it on Polished Pink card stock, then cut it out with the Double Oval punch. The sentiment on the bridge panel was embellished with the hearts from the third cat image - I carefully only inked the hearts with a Sweet Sorbet marker and stamped on the basic white cardstock strip. 

 

 

  And here is one more view of my card. STB #253 - Winged Things Birthday Bridge card featuring Hello Ladybug

  Hello and Happy Tuesday!  Today I am sharing a card that I designed for the Seize the Birthday challenge to use "Winged Things" on a birthday card. I haven't inked the Hello Ladybug stamp set in a while so decided to use it since ladybugs certainly have wings - cute polka-dotted wings at that!

  Here is a close-up of the ladybug - the punch works perfectly with the images in the set to cut out the ladybug body and wings. I also fussy-cut the leaf image.

Sunday Fun Day: Wonderful World Hippest Hippo envelope gift card holder

  Hello and Happy Sunday! We are featuring alternate uses for envelopes today for our projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog .  With the end of the current Sale-a-Bration promotion coming this week (August 31st!!), I wanted to once again feature the Wonderful World DSP (did you see my summer flowers card post or catch this birthday card post earlier?).   In addition to this DSP, I also used the Hippest Hippos stamp set and coordinating dies which are also SAB selections (each separately free with a qualifying $50 order).  I also used two new punches - the Lasting Label punch from the Annual catalog and the Handmade Tag punch from the Holiday catalog.  Here is a closer look at the first card. Isn't this hippo the CUTEST?!?   I colored her using Gray Granite (light and dark), Dark Melon Mambo and Light Old Olive stampin' blends markers.  To create the mat for the Lasting Label punch, I cut the ends from a melon mambo piece and glued offset to the basic white one.   

 

 

 

 

  Here is my second card. I am not sure which one I like better. For this hippo, I colored it the opposite way from the first card with the gray granite stampin' blends and added the little flower with the dark Orchid Oasis stampin' blend marker. 

 

 

 

  I am sure you are wondering "where is the envelope?"  Well, this card is sized at 4-1/2" x 3-1/8" and the inside is an envelope folded in half to form a pocket to hold a gift card holder.  Here is the inside of the card. I added a card stock mat and panel to the right side and left the opening on the left to hold a gift card and additional room to write.  The card is held closed by this beautiful crinkled seam binding ribbon.  Keep reading for more photos and how-to instructions. 

 

Materials and dimensions needed for gift card holder:

• Medium envelope
• Card base 6-1/4" x 4-1/2", score on long side at 3-1/8" 
• Card front mat 4-1/4" x 2-7/8" (use the Handmade Tag punch to cut out a piece from the center before adhering to DSP)
• DSP panel 4-1/8" x 2-3/4"
  
• Inside mat 4" x 2-1/2" (use the Lasting Label punch to cut out a piece before adhering the inside panel) 
• Inside panel 3-3/4" x 2-1/4"
• Skinny scrap of DSP to embellish the inside panel
• Ribbon 20" piece

 

Steps:

1. Take a medium envelope and fold the flap INSIDE the envelope.
2. Fold the envelope so that the "pocket" is on the inside.  Use a bone folder to ensure a crisp fold
3. Fold card base in half and line up folded envelope inside. Glue one side, then the other.
4. Wrap ribbon around card so that the tails face to the right. Tape down in the center of both the front and back of card.
5. Adhere DSP & mat to the front over the ribbon to secure.
6. Add a punch to secure the ribbon on the back.
7. Embellish as desired.

Sunday Fun Day: "W" fun fold Hues of Happiness birthday card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! Today's theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog is fun fold cards. I saw a great card called a "W" fold on Sharon Armstrong's blog (see it pinned here) and decided to try one. So fun and easy!

 

  I used the new Happiness Abounds stamp set and coordinating Hues of Happiness DSP from the Annual catalog for today's card along with some stampin' blends for coloring.  These colors just scream summer to me (although kind of tricky to photograph)!  Click on either photo to hop over to my online Stampin' Up! store to place an order. 

 

 

 Here is a closer look at the front of the card. I used a large piece of the DSP for the background, then stamped the sentiments with Gorgeous Grape ink and stamped the flowers and leaves with Memento Jet Black ink so I could color them using my Stampin' Blends (Melon Mambo combo, Daffodil Delight combo and Granny Apple Green combo).  I cut the flowers and layered them on top of the leaves that were stamped directly on the card stock panel.

 

 

  These photos show the inside of the card, making it the "W" fold.  Once again I relied heavily on the gorgeous DSP for 3 of the 4 panels.

 

 

 As you can see, on the left side of the card I used a piece of the DSP featuring the yellows, reds and oranges and stamped the panel with a mango melody flower image to match. The sentiment was inked with Gorgeous Grape ink. For the bottom of that panel, I tried (not so successfully) to ink the sentiment across the bottom. Note to self - stamp this BEFORE gluing the strip for the W onto the card base.

 

 

  On the right side of the card I used a piece of the DSP for one panel, and then from another design in the pack I cut out several flowers and layered them together on the 4th panel. So easy outside of the cutting that I had to do.  I left the bottom of the inside panel blank for any sentiment I want to write inside the card when I send it.

Sunday Fun Day: Faux Stair Step fun fold Ladybug card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing fun/fancy fold projects and I decided to make faux stair step card featuring the Hello Ladybug bundle from the Spring January-June mini catalog.  I had seen one on Pinterest shared on Glenda Calkin's thestampcamp blog (see that pin here) and CASE'd it for my project today.  Check out her video tutorial to see how it's made.

 

 

  If this project looks familiar, it is because I had some of this sheet of card stock shown above that was left over from last week's project (see that gift card holder here) and decided to use it for this week's project.  Colors used to stamp the "designer paper " include daffodil delight, granny apple green, mango melody and poppy parade.

 

 

  Above you'll see the super adorable Hello Ladybug stamp set and punch bundle - the stamp set images were used to create my "designer paper" and the punch was used for the ladybug on the front of my card.  Please click on the photo above to hop over to my Stampin' Up! store to place an order.  If ordering online, please be sure to use Host Code QNTFU7G6. 

 

 

  Here is how you cut the base card and middle section of the faux stair step card. You end up using most of a single sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" piece of card stock, but I feel like it is a lot more sturdy than a traditional stair step card (I made one way back in 2012 that you can see here).

 

  Here is a close-up of the center panel - I added the punched lady bug to the center of the large leaf (strategically cutting my stamped "designer paper" card stock) and added the "hello" sentiment to a strip of basic white card stock and matted it with a strip of mango melody card stock.

 

 

  Here is a view of the side of the card so you can see how it is put together.  The middle section is attached at the bottom to the accordion fold on the front of the card and also at the back of the card.

 

 

  Because of how you add the center folded piece, the card doesn't fully open. In the first photo above you can see the inside from a side angle and the second picture shows the card opened up from the front.

Sunday Fun Day: Hello Ladybug bundle gift card holder

  Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing projects made featuring our favorite bundle from the Spring January-June mini catalog. Please read on to learn more about my bright and cheery gift card holder.

 

 

  I absolutely fell in love with the super adorable Hello Ladybug stamp set and punch bundle and wanted to use it to create this fun gift card holder for my project this week.  Please click on the photo above to hop over to my Stampin' Up! store to place an order.  If ordering online, please be sure to use Host Code QNTFU7G6. 

 

 

 

  I knew I would be making more than one of these, and didn't have DSP that had the right colors so I decided to create my own. I took a piece of 8-1/2" x 11" basic white card stock and stamped all over using the images from the stamp set and the following color palette:  daffodil delight, granny apple green, mango melody, poppy parade and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.   I used this piece to cut up for the background of the card front as well as for the pocket inside the card.

 

 

  Here is a close-up of the front panel - I stamped the leaf and sentiment directly on the panel, then stamped the lady bug body and wings on a scrap of basic white card stock and cut them out with the ladybug punch. Each layer is popped up on the card panel for added dimension.

 

 

  The gift card holder is actually a tri-fold card with the inside center having the pocket for the gift card and the right panel being where to write your sentiment. The pocket uses a piece of the stamped "DSP" that I created, but I stamped the left inside side panel after stamping the ladybug body in the lower right corner. The wings are glued on top and then I stamped around it with the various images from the stamp set. I also added a bit of the black & white gingham ribbon (so cute!).

 

 

 

  Wondering how I made the pocket panel?  First I cut out a piece from the "DSP" that I created, then flipped it over and marked the center. I then used the body of the ladybug from the punch for the notch. It was added with tear & tape adhesive to the center of the tri-fold panel.

 

  Want to make this yourself? Please see below for dimensions... when I made my card, I stamped a full sheet of Basic White card stock all over to create my "DSP" and then cut it down to size as listed below:

Card dimensions

Base card: Granny Apple Green CS 5-1/2” x 4-1/4″

Stamped Card background panel: Basic White CS 5-1/4″ x/4″

Folding panel: Real Red CS 11” x 3”, scored at 3-3/4″ and 8”

Stamped panel (front of card): Basic White CS 3-1/2” x 2-3/4”

Inside stamped panel (left side): Basic White CS 3-1/2” x 2-3/4”

Gift card pocket (center): Basic White CS 4″ x 2-1/2″

Inside stamped panel (right side): Basic White CS 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″

Sunday Fun Day: All about the DSP Beautifully Penned fun fold card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday!  For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing projects featuring the beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP) packages that Stampin' Up! offers. I created another fun 2-fold card (are you getting tired of these yet?) that features many of the beautiful patterns found in the Beautifully Penned DSP pack. You can see my previous cards made using this fun fold here (Stampers Dozen blog hop card) and here (Seize the Birthday blog challenge #220, I was selected as a Runner Up in the Birthday Honours!! Dimensions found in this post).

 

 

  This card features the gorgeous patterns of the Beautifully Penned DSP, which is an exclusive Sale-a-Bration selection that you can only earn for free with a qualifying $50 purchase.  I paired it with the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set found in the Annual Catalog.  I also used a few Stampin' Blend markers: Melon Mambo, So Saffron and Old Olive.

 

 

 

  These photos show what the card looks like as you open it up and showcases all the beautiful patterns in this DSP pack.

 

 

 

  Here's a close-up of the front focal image. I used a piece of the DSP with the flower outlines and colored them in with my Stampin' Blends markers.  The sentiment is from the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set and was stamped on a skinny strip of basic white card stock which I snipped on the end to create a banner and then popped up with mini stampin' dimensionals.

 

 

 

  For the inside panel, I used another sentiment and image from the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set.
