Hello and Happy Sunday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing cards featuring fun folds. These cards are so fun to receive and some techniques are more difficult than others. I found this card idea by Karen Titus on Pinterest (see that pin here for great directions). She didn't give the fold a name so I am just calling it a fun fold surprise card. I made a set of two using this fun new DSP from the Holiday catalog and wanted to show how versatile it is by making both a Christmas card AND a birthday card just by switching up the stamp sets used. Read on to find out more about each card...
How fun is this Merry Bold & Bright DSP? I love the colors and patterns, and wanted to show you how versatile this new Christmas DSP is from the new Holiday catalog. I used it and the versatile Very Best Occasions stamp set (a carryover from last year's holiday catalog) for both cards. In addition, I used the new Beary Cute stamp set and Taco Fiesta sets along with a color palette taken from the DSP. More about each card in the details below. To place an online order or check out the products available from the 2023-2024 Annual catalog, please click on any image to hop over to my online Stampin' Up! store (don't forget to use 2SXNFJ2R* with your online order at checkout through September 30th).
Here is my Christmas card - I went with the tiny Christmas lights design because I love the giant polka dots on the reverse. The sentiment and gift image from the Beary Cute stamp set are on the card front and the sentiment in the center of the fun fold is from the Very Best Occasions set. I inked it with basic black ink, then colored in the holly leaves with granny apple green stampin' write marker, the berries with a poppy parade stampin' write marker and the pine needles with a shaded spruce stampin' write marker. The card base is cut from granny apple green card stock and I matted the fun fold with poppy parade card stock.
For the inside of the card, I added a thin strip of the mini lights DSP and added the snowflakes and sentiment from the Beary Cute stamp set.
And here is my birthday card. I had to use the Taco Fiesta stamp set because I made this card for one of my very best friends who has a birthday coming up in 2 weeks. I don't think she follows my blog, otherwise I have blown the surprise. Whitney and I love going to get tacos and this set is too cute! Ironically, she is allergic to guacamole, but the colors of the avocado and guacamole were too perfect not to use on the card front! She'll understand, I'm sure. Both images are colored with stampin' blends (light and dark granny apple green, light pecan pie, light basic black and dark smoky slate).
For the inside of the card I again added a thin strip of the DSP along the side. However, when I glued it down I had some black ink on my finger and had an ugly smudge at the top. I "fixed" it by stamping the tortilla chips over top and she'll never know! I hope she loves this card as much as I loved making it for her!!
And here is one last view of these cards. For even more fun fold card ideas and inspiration, be sure to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to check out what Karla and Rachel created this week. Happy stamping!!
