Hello and Happy Sunday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing cards celebrating Summer Fun. What better way to celebrate summer than at the beach?!? It is definitely my happy place and I intend to spend retirement near the ocean!! My Mom loved sea turtles and I purchased this set in honor of her. I also have a co-worker who loves sea turtles, so this is going to be his birthday card come September. For that reason I had to keep it pretty simple with some added texture since that is how I like to make masculine cards. I love the way this one turned out and can't wait to use this set more!!
For my project today, I used the Sea Turtles stamp set - this one is cool because on one side of the photopolymer stamp you have the detail. Flip it over and you have a solid image to fill in color! I also added some blended color to the image panel using the small blending brushes. Lastly, I added some fun texture with the Natural 1/4" wavy trim. This is currently available, sorry, but it was the perfect nautical accent for this card. I am hoping that SU! will get more in stock soon! To place an online order or check out the products available from the 2023-2024 Annual catalog, please click on any image to hop over to my online Stampin' Up! store (don't forget to use Host Code CV2EH9EV* with your online order at checkout through July 30th).

Here is another view of my card. I tried really hard to give the illusion of motion in the water and achieved this using a combination of the bubbles stamp (both the detailed and solid sides), the little ripple-y wave image and my blending brushes. I stamped and cut out the little turtle and added a birthday sentiment from the Go To Greetings set.
Here is a close-up of the turtle. I found it was easier to ink the detail side first using Pretty Peacock, which I stamped off once, and then added Gray Granite ink on the legs and head. Once that was stamped, I cleaned the stamp and flipped it over and used Pool Party ink on the solid side. I did stamp off once for a lighter color. I like how it turned out!! For the water I used Pool Party ink and a small blending brush to add color to the top 2/3 of the basic white card stock panel. I then came in with Crumb Cake and a small blending brush to add the sand at the bottom, angling it for the waves. Once I had my color on, I then stamped the bubbles with Pool Party ink and stamped again and again until there was no color left. I then cleaned it and flipped it over and added more pool party color all over with the solid side. I added more color toward the top with a small blending brush and Pretty Peacock ink. I then went back over it with the ripple-y wave image and Pool Party ink. This was a lot of layering of color until I got the look I wanted. The Atlantic ocean where we go to the beach is this pretty greenish-blue color and I think the combination of Pool Party and Pretty Peacock achieved it really well.
For the inside of the card, I sponged more of the Pool Party ink in the lower left corner and added some Pretty Peacock along the corner. I stamped the larger starfish image with Pretty Peacock ink directly on the basic white card stock, then added a cut-out sand dollar (Crumb Cake stamped off once) and smaller star fish (Pool Party stamped off once and over stamped with Pool Party) for a little added fun on the inside of the card.
And here one last view of my card. I hope I have inspired you to try the blending brushes to create a water/beach scene. For even more summer fun card ideas and inspiration, be sure to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to check out what Karla and Rachel created this week. Happy stamping!!
