Hello and Happy Friday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring monochromatic cards. I know technically this is considered grayscale but I really love how it turned out and I wanted to use my new ribbon. So there you go...
I kept things super simple with just a simply stamped background panel featuring the Burlap stamp set which adds nice texture. I added a piece of the new Black/Silver striped metallic ribbon from the Classic Garage product suite in the Occasions catalog. The focal image is from the Birthday Wishes for You stamp set. I love that you can color in the letters!
I was going for an ombre effect and love that you can blend the Stampin' Blends markers so easily. I only used the Smoky Slate combo, starting with the dark and working down with the light and blending in between. I also tried to soften the light marker using the Color Lifter - not sure I pulled it off or not. It does look a little smoky, doesn't it?!
I kept it super simple on the inside of the card, adding the other sentiment from the Birthday Wishes for You stamp set. This leaves plenty of room to write if you want.
Here is one last view of my monochromatic card. I am really happy with how this turned out - and I think it is a great masculine card with lots of texture both from the ribbon (that isn't too girlie) and the Burlap stamp. For even more fabulous monochromatic card ideas and inspiration, please hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what my fellow designers created this week.
