Hello and Happy Sunday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring the Decorative Mask stencils from Stampin' Up! I decided to use the Artistic Mix set from the Annual Catalog along with the Art Gallery stamp set and a few colors from the Subtles color family. Please read on to find out more about each card....
Above are images and links to the products that I used for today's project. To find out more about these items or to place an online order, please click on any image to hop over to my online Stampin' Up! store (don't forget to use Host Code NK4X4VC3* with your online order at checkout through March 30th).
The Decorative Masks are great stencils and are easily washed with water once you've finished using them. Here are the steps that I have found give the best results:
- Temporarily attach your card stock panel to a piece of grid paper with multipurpose liquid glue - put a teeny bit on the back of your card stock, then smear it with your fingers until it is dry and tacky. Attach it to the center of your grid paper.
- Get your stencil lined up where you want it, then hold it down on the grid paper using washi tape.
- Ink up the blending brush with ink from your ink pad, but do so lightly. Use a light-handed circular motion to apply the ink to your card stock. Remember, you can always add more ink but you can't take it away!
Here is my first card - I used two different shades of ink (Balmy Blue and Highland Heather) to color the basic white card stock panel using this stencil. It is so easy to color using the new Small Blending Brushes found in the Spring catalog. I colored the floral image using Balmy Blue, Highland Heather and Pear Pizzazz stampin' write markers, then cut it out using my paper snips (there is a coordinating dies set for this stamp set called Floral Gallery, but sadly I have misplaced mine somewhere in my craft room). I popped that up using dimensionals on a piece of basic white CS cut using the Decorative Circle punch. I inked the sentiment with Highland Heather ink and stamped it on a strip of basic white CS which I added at the bottom. I finished the card by embellishing with a few pearl basic jewels.
For this card I only inked a small strip on the basic white card stock panel and then overstamped with Memento Tuxedo black ink (I used large post-it notes to protect the rest of the card stock). The birthday sentiment was a little too long to fit, so I inked up each word one at a time to line them up on top of each other. Lastly, I embellished with a few rhinestone basic jewels.
Here is my last card - I simply inked the whole thing with balmy blue ink and popped up a stamped panel on top. I added a bow using the White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon to embellish.
