Hello and Happy Sunday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing our favorite tools from the January-April Spring mini catalog. Punches and flowers are two of my favorite things and the Petal Park builder punch brings them both together! It is part of a bundle (coordinates with the Petal Park stamp set), but can also be purchased on its own. I used the Regency Park DSP and the Petal Park bundle along with the Happiness Abounds stamp set (great sentiments!) to create a fun set of mini note cards. These mini cards are perfect for using with gift bags as a tag - just punch a small hole in the upper corner and thread through with baker's twine. Or just slip one inside your gift bag as a card. Do you see the different ways I have used the punch? I love it!
Above are images and links to the products that I used for today's project. Don't forget that if you place an order of $50 or more you qualify to select a free Sale-a-Bration item!! To find out more about these items or to place an online order, please click on any image to hop over to my online Stampin' Up! store (don't forget to use Host Code AWMYZTC4 with your online order at checkout through January 30th).
Here is a close-up of a mini notecard featuring a 3D flower. I had fun making a bunch of these and love that the punch also includes the leaf. To make extra leaves I just cut a 1" strip of card stock and punched out a bunch to have on hand. Mint macaron is not a color listed on the Regency Park DSP pack but it works great with this design so I used it for the leaves for all of my flowers. I also used Balmy Blue, Mango Melody and Night of Navy (card stock and ink) with this project. See below for steps to make these fun little 3D flowers.
To create the 3D flower, follow these steps once you have punched out your card stock flower layers:
1. Start by curling the edges of the petals using the pointy side of the bone folder (like when you use a scissor blade to curl ribbon).
2. Place the flower on a squishy surface like the Stampin' Pierce mat. Use the end of a ballpoint pen cap (smooth on the end) and press down in the center in a circular motion. You'll end up with a flower piece that curls up around the edges and will look like the third flower on on the right in the first photo.
3. Use multipurpose adhesive to put the flower layers together. Finish the flower by adding an adhesive-backed milky dot.
Here is a close-up of the full-sized card. I used the Petal Park stamp set to stamp the background foliage and 3 flowers image that work with the punch. The flowers are very pretty, even when they are flat on a card. Again, I embellished the center of the largest flower with a milky dot.
Here is a photo to show you how I embellished the mini note card envelopes with a skinny strip of DSP. I did the same on the inside of most of my cards as well. I used an entire piece of the 6" x 6" DSP for this project today with just a teeny scrap left over. Happy stamping and Happy Sale-a-Bration!!
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous week!
