Hello and Happy Sunday! I hope you and your loved ones had a very Happy Thanksgiving. This was our first big holiday without my Mom and I sure am missing her. This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing handmade Christmas ornaments and I decided to make one similar to an ornament I created back in 2020 (see that blog post here). I used the Celebrate Everything DSP pack (host reward from the Holiday catalog), the new In Color baker's twine, Wonderful Snowflakes and Medium Daisy punch to make it. Isn't it cute?! These are super non-traditional colors, but I love it!
Above are images and links to the products that I used for today's project. To find out more about these items or to place an online order, please click on any image to hop over to my online Stampin' Up! store (don't forget to use Host Code DJTZ9EEH with your online order at checkout through November 30th).
Here are two different views of the ornament. The bottom layer is made up of thirteen 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" squares of one piece of DSP and the top layer is made up of twelve 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" squares of another piece of DSP from the Celebrate Everything DSP pack. I really love these bright non-traditional colors for Christmas. I used a bone folder to help me bend the DSP squares into the little cones. I used a dab of multipurpose glue to hold them closed. For the center, I used one of the Wonderful Snowflakes, then topped that with two daisies that I cut out using the Medium Daisy punch. I fussy cut one of the ornaments from the other Christmas pattern DSP in the Celebrate Everything pack and added it with a rhinestone jewel right in the center.
I used a retired circle punch to glue each layer of cones down and then built up from the bottom layer - you can see the back view above. I tucked the baker's twine loop in between two layers of the circle punch to hold it securely.
I love the bright Parakeet Party baker's twine, but it wasn't quite strong enough to hold the ornament, so I cut three pieces and braided them to make it a stronger loop to hang the ornament.
Here is one more view of my ornament hanging on my tree. I have quite a few of these handmade ornaments now since we tend to have this as a blog post theme every year. For even more handmade ornament ideas and inspiration, please be sure to check out the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what Karla and Rachel created this week.
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous week!
