More envelope gift card holder ideas featuring the SAB selections Wonderful World bundle and Hippest Hippos

  Hello and thanks for stopping by mid-week!  On Sunday I shared these fun envelope gift card ideas using the Sale-a-Bration selections Wonderful World DSP and Hippest Hippos stamps and coordinating dies.

  I made one more gift card holder using the Hippest Hippos stamp and dies because it is just too cute!  What do you think of this one?   Instead of using the crinkled seam binding ribbon to tie this one shut, I pulled out my In Color bakers twine. I really like this one!

 

 

 Here is one I made using the Wonderful World DSP and Sweet Songbirds stamp set and coordinating punch.  I wanted to show the inside so you could see how cute the punched out little birdie is along with the rest of the sentiment from the front cover. 

 

 

 

  Here are two more that include sentiments from the Sweet Songbirds stamp set. For the top card, I used my Dark Orchid Oasis stampin' blend marker to color basic rhinestone jewels to embellish the oval punch. Did you know that stampin' blends are great for coloring rhinestones, pearls and even ribbon?

 

 

 

  This graphic shows how I took a piece cut out using the Lasting Label punch and cut it to make two new mats. Make sure you are getting the most from your tools by thinking outside the box and cutting them.

Sunday Fun Day: Wonderful World Hippest Hippo envelope gift card holder

  Hello and Happy Sunday! We are featuring alternate uses for envelopes today for our projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog .  With the end of the current Sale-a-Bration promotion coming this week (August 31st!!), I wanted to once again feature the Wonderful World DSP (did you see my summer flowers card post or catch this birthday card post earlier?).   In addition to this DSP, I also used the Hippest Hippos stamp set and coordinating dies which are also SAB selections (each separately free with a qualifying $50 order).  I also used two new punches - the Lasting Label punch from the Annual catalog and the Handmade Tag punch from the Holiday catalog.  Here is a closer look at the first card. Isn't this hippo the CUTEST?!?   I colored her using Gray Granite (light and dark), Dark Melon Mambo and Light Old Olive stampin' blends markers.  To create the mat for the Lasting Label punch, I cut the ends from a melon mambo piece and glued offset to the basic white one.   

 

 

 

 

  Here is my second card. I am not sure which one I like better. For this hippo, I colored it the opposite way from the first card with the gray granite stampin' blends and added the little flower with the dark Orchid Oasis stampin' blend marker. 

 

 

 

  I am sure you are wondering "where is the envelope?"  Well, this card is sized at 4-1/2" x 3-1/8" and the inside is an envelope folded in half to form a pocket to hold a gift card holder.  Here is the inside of the card. I added a card stock mat and panel to the right side and left the opening on the left to hold a gift card and additional room to write.  The card is held closed by this beautiful crinkled seam binding ribbon.  Keep reading for more photos and how-to instructions. 

 

Materials and dimensions needed for gift card holder:

• Medium envelope
• Card base 6-1/4" x 4-1/2", score on long side at 3-1/8" 
• Card front mat 4-1/4" x 2-7/8" (use the Handmade Tag punch to cut out a piece from the center before adhering to DSP)
• DSP panel 4-1/8" x 2-3/4"
  
• Inside mat 4" x 2-1/2" (use the Lasting Label punch to cut out a piece before adhering the inside panel) 
• Inside panel 3-3/4" x 2-1/4"
• Skinny scrap of DSP to embellish the inside panel
• Ribbon 20" piece

 

Steps:

1. Take a medium envelope and fold the flap INSIDE the envelope.
2. Fold the envelope so that the "pocket" is on the inside.  Use a bone folder to ensure a crisp fold
3. Fold card base in half and line up folded envelope inside. Glue one side, then the other.
4. Wrap ribbon around card so that the tails face to the right. Tape down in the center of both the front and back of card.
5. Adhere DSP & mat to the front over the ribbon to secure.
6. Add a punch to secure the ribbon on the back.
7. Embellish as desired.

  Here is top view of my card. It is a very clean and simple layout, my favorite!

 

 

  This view shows a little better how I layered the two punches cut using the Handmade Tag punch. I pulled the colors used for this card (melon mambo, pear pizzazz and polished pink) from the DSP piece.

Sunday Fun Day: Color Combo Sweet Songbirds CASE'd card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! We are featuring a bright and cheerful color combination that Karla came up with for our Sunday Fun Day projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog today. I decided to use the super cute Sweet Songbirds stamp set for my card.

 

 

  The color combination includes several In Colors: Pale Papaya and Polished Pink from the 2021-2023 collection plus the new Tahitian Tide from the 2022-2024 collection. I saw the cute balmy blue card in the Annual catalog (page 31) and decided to CASE it. I didn't have the same die that was used to cut out the circles, so improvised and use several circle dies from the Layering Circles die collection. I think I got pretty close, don't you?   This view shows a little better how bright this Tahitian Tide card stock is - it's a little darker than the Tempting Turquoise that was retired a few years ago.

 

 

 Here is a close-up look at the punched birdie - so cute! You can see in the upper corner that I crinkled and sponged on crumb cake ink for my little sign.

Sunday Fun Day: Penguin Place Snowflake Christmas card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! We are showcasing accessories in our Sunday Fun Day projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog today and I decided to use one of the Wonderful Snowflakes for my fun penguin Christmas card. 

 

 

  The Wonderful Snowflakes are a product that was offered in last year's holiday catalog and thankfully carried over.   This view is a little better - I don't know why, but the background is basic white but didn't photograph that way. 

 

 

 

  I stamped the sentiment on a strip of card stock and mounted it across the center of the snowflake with a stampin' dimensional. For the background piece, I stamped the tiny snowflakes all over with pool party ink and stamped the reindeer antlers right onto the card stock since I didn't want to cut them out. The penguin was stamped on a scrap of white and cut out using my Penguin builder punch. Easy-peasy!
