Sunday Fun Day: Christmas in July Scottie Dog card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! We are celebrating Christmas in July over on the Sisters in Stamping blog today and sharing Christmas card ideas. It is never too early to get started on your Christmas cards, is it?  I decided to feature the Christmas Scottie bundle that I recently purchased from the Holiday catalog.  The stamp set and coordinating punch are so darn cute!

  This view shows how I punched out the dog and bow and popped them up on the layered circle die cuts. The plaid pattern on the inner circle was achieved using a stamping' blend brush with real red ink and the respective mask from the Artistic Mix decorative mask set.

 

 

 

 Here is a look at the inside of the card. I stamped the ribbon image along the top, a sentiment in the center and a peeking little pup in the lower left corner.

Sunday Fun Day: Wonderful World birthday card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! Today's theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog is birthday cards. I just recently received my Holiday catalog and SAB order and wanted to use the new Wonderful World DSP and stamp bundle that is a Sale-a-Bration selection right now that you can earn for free with a qualifying $100 merchandise order. The papers are so beautiful and the flower images are a perfect match.

 

 

  In addition to the Wonderful World bundle, I also used a new stamp set called Go To Greetings which is in the new Annual catalog.   This is a super simple Quick & Easy card and you can very easily make quite a few at one time. I wanted to add some texture to the card front so tied a double bow using linen thread.  Want to make one of these cards yourself? Here are the card stock dimensions that I used for my project today:

Card Dimensions

Base card: Melon Mambo CS 11” x 4-1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″

Card front strip: Basic White CS 3-3/4″ x 1-1/4″

Card front mat and inside panel: (2) Basic White Cake CS 5-1/4″ x 4"

Card front panel: DSP 5" x 3-3/4"

Inside panel DSP strip: 5" x 1/4"

 

 

 Here is a closer look at the inside of the card. I used a narrow strip of the DSP for some color and then stamped a flower image from the stamp set using Sahara Sand ink (I used second generation inking, stamping off on scrap paper first, so you can write over the image if needed).

Sunday Fun Day: Wild & Sweet masculine birthday card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! Today's theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog is masculine cards. Oddly enough, I chose the theme several months ago and then struggled to make a card because most of my masculine sets retired.

 

 

  Thankfully, I had ordered this fun Wild & Sweet stamp set from the new Annual catalog and it worked great with the new Artistic Mix decorative masks, which I colored with the Blending Brush. To add more dimension to the stamped image, I used a few Watercolor Pencils.   I didn't have any masculine DSP so decided to make my own for the front of the card. I used soft suede ink and a blending brush along with the plaid design mask from the Artistic Mix decorative masks. I also wanted to add some texture, so scored vertical lines into the mossy meadow card stock panel and had the embossed side show.  Lastly, I added a little more texture by "sueding" the early espresso strip of card stock across the stamped panel.  I think I pulled off masculine, don't you?   

  Want to make one yourself? Here are the card stock dimensions that I used for my project today:

Card Dimensions

Base card: Soft Suede CS 11” x 4-1/4″ scored at 5 1/2″

Card front strip: Mosssy Meadow CS 4-3/4″ x 2″, scored every 1/4" vertically

Card front panel: Crumb Cake CS 3-1/2″ x 3"

Sueded strip: Early Espresso 3-1/2" x 1/4"

 

 

 

 Here is a closer look at the front of the card. It is a little easier to see the sueded texture on the early espresso strip. To achieve that effect, use a bone folder and rub it along the card stock like you do with scissors and curling ribbon - you're essentially breaking the fibers of the card stock. After a few times you'll see that the card stock starts to split - carefully pry it apart into two strips. One side will be smooth, but the inside will have this wonderful texture that looks like suede. I glued one side across the panel, then folded the other in half at a slight angle and tore the ends to add even more texture and glued it down. It looks almost like ribbon, but isn't! I also used watercolor pencils to color in the grass (old olive), the raccoon's fur (basic gray) and added just a teeny bit of white to the eyes to make them pop a little more. It pulls the colors of the card together nicely and gives the raccoon image a little more dimension.

Sunday Fun Day: "W" fun fold Hues of Happiness birthday card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! Today's theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog is fun fold cards. I saw a great card called a "W" fold on Sharon Armstrong's blog (see it pinned here) and decided to try one. So fun and easy!

 

  I used the new Happiness Abounds stamp set and coordinating Hues of Happiness DSP from the Annual catalog for today's card along with some stampin' blends for coloring.  These colors just scream summer to me (although kind of tricky to photograph)!  Click on either photo to hop over to my online Stampin' Up! store to place an order. 

 

 

 Here is a closer look at the front of the card. I used a large piece of the DSP for the background, then stamped the sentiments with Gorgeous Grape ink and stamped the flowers and leaves with Memento Jet Black ink so I could color them using my Stampin' Blends (Melon Mambo combo, Daffodil Delight combo and Granny Apple Green combo).  I cut the flowers and layered them on top of the leaves that were stamped directly on the card stock panel.

 

 

  These photos show the inside of the card, making it the "W" fold.  Once again I relied heavily on the gorgeous DSP for 3 of the 4 panels.

 

 

 As you can see, on the left side of the card I used a piece of the DSP featuring the yellows, reds and oranges and stamped the panel with a mango melody flower image to match. The sentiment was inked with Gorgeous Grape ink. For the bottom of that panel, I tried (not so successfully) to ink the sentiment across the bottom. Note to self - stamp this BEFORE gluing the strip for the W onto the card base.

 

 

  On the right side of the card I used a piece of the DSP for one panel, and then from another design in the pack I cut out several flowers and layered them together on the 4th panel. So easy outside of the cutting that I had to do.  I left the bottom of the inside panel blank for any sentiment I want to write inside the card when I send it.

Base card: Granny Apple Green CS 11” x 4-1/4″ scored at 5 1/2″

Card front mat: Granny Apple Green CS 3-1/4″ x 2-3/4″

Card front panel: Basic White CS 3″ x 2-1/2″

Basic White CS scraps for flowers

“W” strip: Granny Apple Green CS 11” x 1-1/2″ scored at 2 3/4″, 5 1/2″, 8 1/4″

Inside mats: Granny Apple Green CS (4) 2-3/4″ x 2-1/4″

Inside panels: DSP (2) and Basic White CS (2) 2-1/2″ x 2″

Inside card panels Basic White CS: (2) 5-1/4″ x 4″
