Sunday Fun Day: Artfully Composed Tropical CAS birthday card set

  Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing projects featuring the specialty papers from the Spring catalog.  I pulled out my favorite Artfully Composed DSP to make my card set today.

 

 

  I decided to once again pair it with the Timeless Tropical stamp set.   Here are close-ups of each of the three cards. It is so easy to mix and match the patterns from the DSP packs that Stampin' Up! curates. I love how the colors are listed on the back of the package making it super easy to form your color palette. This is such a clean and simple layout - two strips of coordinating DSP and a sentiment cut out using the Tailored Tag punch (retiring on May 2nd and on sale) and layered on a mat cut using my Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine (on sale through the end of this month!) and the Tasteful Labels dies (also retiring soon and on sale). 

 

  Here is how I stamped the inside of each of the cards. The sentiment, inked with evening evergreen ink, is great for a birthday card but also versatile enough that it would be perfect for a retirement card.  I also inked the palm trees with the evening evergreen ink pad (palm fronds) and colored the tree trunks with a soft suede stampin' write marker.

Sunday Fun Day: Faux Stair Step fun fold Ladybug card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing fun/fancy fold projects and I decided to make faux stair step card featuring the Hello Ladybug bundle from the Spring January-June mini catalog.  I had seen one on Pinterest shared on Glenda Calkin's thestampcamp blog (see that pin here) and CASE'd it for my project today.  Check out her video tutorial to see how it's made.

 

 

  If this project looks familiar, it is because I had some of this sheet of card stock shown above that was left over from last week's project (see that gift card holder here) and decided to use it for this week's project.  Colors used to stamp the "designer paper " include daffodil delight, granny apple green, mango melody and poppy parade.

  Here is how you cut the base card and middle section of the faux stair step card. You end up using most of a single sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" piece of card stock, but I feel like it is a lot more sturdy than a traditional stair step card (I made one way back in 2012 that you can see here).

 

  Here is a close-up of the center panel - I added the punched lady bug to the center of the large leaf (strategically cutting my stamped "designer paper" card stock) and added the "hello" sentiment to a strip of basic white card stock and matted it with a strip of mango melody card stock.

 

 

  Here is a view of the side of the card so you can see how it is put together.  The middle section is attached at the bottom to the accordion fold on the front of the card and also at the back of the card.

 

 

  Because of how you add the center folded piece, the card doesn't fully open. In the first photo above you can see the inside from a side angle and the second picture shows the card opened up from the front.

Sunday Fun Day: Hello Ladybug bundle gift card holder

  Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing projects made featuring our favorite bundle from the Spring January-June mini catalog. Please read on to learn more about my bright and cheery gift card holder.

 

 

  I absolutely fell in love with the super adorable Hello Ladybug stamp set and punch bundle and wanted to use it to create this fun gift card holder for my project this week.  Please click on the photo above to hop over to my Stampin' Up! store to place an order.  If ordering online, please be sure to use Host Code QNTFU7G6. 

 

 

 

  I knew I would be making more than one of these, and didn't have DSP that had the right colors so I decided to create my own. I took a piece of 8-1/2" x 11" basic white card stock and stamped all over using the images from the stamp set and the following color palette:  daffodil delight, granny apple green, mango melody, poppy parade and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.   I used this piece to cut up for the background of the card front as well as for the pocket inside the card.

 

 

  Here is a close-up of the front panel - I stamped the leaf and sentiment directly on the panel, then stamped the lady bug body and wings on a scrap of basic white card stock and cut them out with the ladybug punch. Each layer is popped up on the card panel for added dimension.

 

 

  The gift card holder is actually a tri-fold card with the inside center having the pocket for the gift card and the right panel being where to write your sentiment. The pocket uses a piece of the stamped "DSP" that I created, but I stamped the left inside side panel after stamping the ladybug body in the lower right corner. The wings are glued on top and then I stamped around it with the various images from the stamp set. I also added a bit of the black & white gingham ribbon (so cute!).

 

 

 

  Wondering how I made the pocket panel?  First I cut out a piece from the "DSP" that I created, then flipped it over and marked the center. I then used the body of the ladybug from the punch for the notch. It was added with tear & tape adhesive to the center of the tri-fold panel.

 

  Want to make this yourself? Please see below for dimensions... when I made my card, I stamped a full sheet of Basic White card stock all over to create my "DSP" and then cut it down to size as listed below:

Card dimensions

Base card: Granny Apple Green CS 5-1/2” x 4-1/4″

Stamped Card background panel: Basic White CS 5-1/4″ x/4″

Folding panel: Real Red CS 11” x 3”, scored at 3-3/4″ and 8”

Stamped panel (front of card): Basic White CS 3-1/2” x 2-3/4”

Inside stamped panel (left side): Basic White CS 3-1/2” x 2-3/4”

Gift card pocket (center): Basic White CS 4″ x 2-1/2″

Inside stamped panel (right side): Basic White CS 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″

Sunday Fun Day: Pinterest CASE Positive Thoughts silhouette sympathy card

 

  Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are sharing projects we CASE'd from Pinterest. I can't think of a more fun site that is FULL of inspiration!  I love getting card ideas, recipes and more from Pinterest (check out my boards here).  

 

  I used the Positive Thoughts stamp set for this card along with Blending Brushes to add the ink for the background. Sympathy Card by Jeannie at KampaKreations

  The card that I CASE'd from Pinterest is this one above created by Jeannie at Kampa Kreations.  I love her coloring and silhouette cards are so beautiful! 

 

 

  Here is another view of my card. The blues that I used are definitely different from the original, but I think I was able to achieve the same feeling. My moon was created using a sticky note that I cut into a circle using one of the Layering Circle dies.  That way I could sponge around it without it moving. The blending brushes make it easy to add color, but if you try this technique be sure to use a light hand and after inking dab off excess ink on a piece of grid paper first so you don't end up with splotchy areas on the basic white card stock panel.  Start with the Balmy Blue ink and keep adding a little at a time until you achieve the look you want. I left the center area below the moon without a lot of color so the silhouette images really pop. I added Misty Moonlight ink around the edges and especially in the corners until I achieved the look I wanted. 

 

 

  Here is the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment and then the image from the front after stamping off once.
