Hello and Happy Sunday! For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are celebrating all things hearts, just in time since Valentine's Day is right around the corner. I decided to make a cute valentine note card and matching little gift box using the Nuts & Bolts stamp set and Sweet Talk DSP from the Spring catalog.
Please see above for the products I used for my card and gift set. Click on any photo above to hop over to my Stampin' Up! store to place an order.
Today's entire project was inspired by a recent trip to the Dollar store... I saw this cute little paper box and small bag of chocolates. On a side note, when did the prices go up? These were still a bargain, though - for just $2.50 I had the beginning of a super cute Valentine's Day gift. I decided to cover the box with the Sweet Talk DSP.
I used the box lid on the reverse of the DSP design that I wanted to use as a template, and then simply cut it out with my paper snips. The lid was sunken in a little, so I added some mini dimensionals to prop up the DSP.
The diameter around the box is exactly 12", so for the bottom I could use a single strip of DSP. However, for the lid I wanted some contrast using real red card stock, so cut two pieces at 6-1/2" inches and overlapped the first piece like so. Here's a tip - if you want to make your card stock wrap around a curved edge easier, use your bone folder to break the fibers much like you would with curling ribbon.
And here is the finished box, so cute right?!? Check out that robot image that I stamped on a piece of white card stock that I cut out using the Layering Circles dies. I added a few hearts as well and then colored everything using highland heather, real red and smoky slate stampin' blends markers. The mini bag of chocolates fit perfectly inside the box.
Here is the matching note card and envelope. I added a mat of real red card stock and just a small strip of the DSP. I love this robot image and the sentiment is great. I added a few hearts and colored all with my stampin' blends.
For the inside of the card I used the third robot image from the set. So cute and the sentiment goes with it perfectly (check out that "flower")!
For the outside of the envelope, I stamped the same robot that I used for the gift box. To prevent the stampin' blends from bleeding through to the back of the envelope, I slid a piece of scrap paper in before I started coloring.
Here is one more view of my sweet set. For even more heart-inspired projects, don't forget to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog.
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous week!
