Hello and Happy Independence Day to all my American readers! For this week's Sunday Fun Day theme over on the Sisters in Stamping blog, we designed projects featuring a color palette of Red, White and Blue in honor of the July Fourth holiday today. I chose to make a birthday card (for America's birthday) and am featuring Basic White, Night of Navy and Real Red with Crumb Cake for my card along with a few punches.
From this angle I think you can see how shimmery the Opal Rounds are that I put in the centers of my flowers, created using the Daisy and Medium Daisy punches. I wanted to do flowers because it is summer, but also these kind of remind me of fireworks a little. Fireworks and July 4th just go hand-in-hand. I also just realized that the Itty Bitty Birthday set that I used for my sentiment has retired *after* I finished my card - big ooops!
Here's another view of the card front. I added texture to the Crumb Cake card stock using the Tasteful Textiles 3D embossing folder and then sponged on top of it with Crumb Cake ink to make it more noticeable. I love the added texture!
Did you notice the sentiment piece? Wondering how I did that? I used the Everyday Label punch to cut out the sentiment sideways. Then I attached it to the back of a sticky note and fed it back into the punch as shown in the photo above. I love getting more versatility out of my punches this way!
For the inside of the card I just added some tiny strips of card stock (left over after I cut down my squares from 2" to 1-3/4") to break up all the white, and added the birthday sentiment with Night of Navy ink.
Here is one last look at my card. I hope I have inspired you to use your punches in different ways! Don't forget to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog for even more Red, White & Blue ideas and inspiration.
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous 4th!
