Before I start my blog post for today, I wanted to share the news about my younger daughter Kelsey's graduation last weekend from the University of Kentucky. We were so fortunate and able to attend her in-person ceremony. I can't say enough how very proud we are - she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 as a Psychology Scholar and a double minor in Criminal Justice and Russian. What a wonderful four years she had in Lexington, KY - I'll miss visiting this great city.
And now on to this week's project. Thanks so much for visiting today and checking out my Sunday Fun Day project for the Sisters in Stamping blog. This week we are sharing projects featuring BLING. When I think of bling, my mind immediately goes to Christmas projects. I had just received the new Tidings & Trimmings bundle (stamp set and matching dies set) and coordinating Tidings of Christmas DSP in my last order so thought they were perfect for this week's project. I know it is a little early to start thinking about Christmas, but if you get a jumpstart on your cards now, you'll be less stressed during the holidays.
Check out these fabulous products in the Tidings of Christmas suite from the new Annual Catalog. I love the new 2021-2023 In Colors Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent, and how well they both work with Cherry Cobbler. The DSP papers are sized at 6" x 6" and the patterns are beautiful! I also really like the pretty font used in the sentiments of the stamp set. Having a matching die set really makes cutting out images from the stamp set super easy. I also used the Stitched So Sweetly dies set to cut out my focal panel for the front of the card.
This card layout is such a go-to for me when there are pretty DSP patterns - it highlights multiple ones and the color palette makes designing a card super easy. I cut each strip of DSP at 3-3/4" x 1-5/8".
I'm not sure you can see it, but I used the Wink of Stella clear glimmer brush to add shimmer along the outer scalloped edge of the focal panel as well as for coloring the base of the stocking. I used my Soft Succulents and Cherry Cobbler stampin' blends to color the rest of the stocking. And for added bling, I used three tiny rhinestone jewels under the sentiment.
For the inside of my card, I stamped the sentiment using Soft Succulent ink. The bow was inked with a cherry cobbler ink pad and the foliage was inked with Evening Evergreen. If you recognize this scalloped piece, I had cut out a few last week for my Stampers Dozen Blog Hop project so used one of the leftovers.
I hope I have inspired you to start thinking about making your Christmas cards - it isn't too early! Don't forget to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog for more card ideas and inspiration featuring BLING.
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous week!
