Hi there and welcome to the May 2021 Stampers Dozen Blog Hop! This month we are sharing projects created using new favorite products from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog that was just released earlier this month. Have you had a chance to look it over? I instantly fell in love with the Hand-Penned product suite found on pages 104-105. The bundle includes the photopolymer stamp set and coordinating dies. The DSP is so beautiful, too! I created this card set that features two of the gorgeous patterns. I haven't used this card layout in a while, and decided to for these cards since the DSP is so pretty on both sides! It is really very simple, just figure out the center on the long side of the DSP and cut in with your paper trimmer 2" (make sure you cut the correct side!). Then I used a bone folder to curve the edges and break the fibers, so it wouldn't rip when I bent back the corners and secured them with stampin' dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped on a strip of basic white card stock and glued on to be centered... less stress that way. Easy-peasey!
If you want to order these fabulous products, please click on the images above to head over to my Stampin' Up! store. The DSP has such a soft beautiful color palette - perfect for your spring cards. The colors include Basic Blac, Blushing Bride, Cinnamon Cider, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Highland Heather, Mint Macaron, Misty Moonlight, Pale Papaya and Pool Party.
For this first card I used Misty Moonlight card stock for the base card. The flower image was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I cut it out using the coordinating die from the die set and then colored the flowers with Petal Pink stampin' blend markers (after much trial and error I decided it matched the DSP the best for the flowers). For the leaves, I used my watercolor brush and the Mint Macaron ink pad. I had to be careful as this ink isn't really meant for water coloring. What do you think of the inside of my card? The decorative scallop edge was created using a die from the set. It's so pretty, isn't it?
For card number two I used Mint Macaron card stock for the base card. The flower image was colored using so saffron ink and a watercolor brush. When diluted, I found it was the closest to matching the DSP. The leaves were colored just like my first card. I used my light Highland Heather stampin' blend marker for the center of the flower - it was a little dark, so I used my color lifter to remove some of the ink which lightened it nicely.
And here is one last photo of the two cards. I am happy with these cards and love that I have a simple set of cards featuring this fabulous new product suite Hand-Penned. Very pretty! Love that you can show both sides of the paper. Perfect when you cannot decide which side to use. I love the tip about stamping the sentiment separately. This makes it to so much easier!
