Thanks so much for visiting!! Today we are taking a break over on the Sisters in Stamping blog, so I wanted to share the Mother's Day card I made for my Mom and a fun project I made for her gift at Board & Brush last night. If you haven't been to one of these workshops, they are so much fun!
Last night's workshop had a Mother's Day theme, and everyone made this great wooden box with 3 mason jars filled with flowers. The box starts off as natural wood, and then you get to distress (a great de-stresser and lots of fun, although very loud), stain and paint it. The letters were painted on using a stencil, so it was super easy. I stained this box first using Jacobean stain, then dry brushed it with white paint and followed that with a light blue paint that was dry brushed (my Mom's favorite color). I decided to use dark blue paint for the stenciling on one side and white paint on the other. I think she's going to love it! If you have a Board & Brush located near you, I definitely recommend going with some friends for a fun Girls Night Out!! I was definitely inspired by this and am hoping to incorporate my Stampin' Up! products to see what I can make at home on my own. I have lots of retired stencils from a while back and will post when I get something created.
Because I had dry brushed my box with light blue paint, I wanted the card to match so used balmy blue card stock and Stampin' Blend markers along with the beautiful True Love DSP. The sentiment is from the recently retired Strong & Beautiful stamp set (which I LOVE) and was added to a large circle cut with the recently retired Stitched Shapes dies.
This close up shows you the flowers image - it was fussy cut using paper snips from a piece of the True Love DSP, then I colored it using the Balmy Blue and Mossy Meadow stampin' blend markers (both light and dark). I popped it up on the panel using stampin' dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
For the inside of the card I kept it very simple - a strip of the DSP to tie the front of the card into the inside, and the sentiment stamped with Tuxedo Black ink.
Here is one last view of my card. For all the Mothers out there, I hope you are having a fabulous Mother's Day!!
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous week!
