Hello and thanks so much for visiting!! Today our theme for Sunday Fun Day over on the Sisters in Stamping blog is to feature the product bundles in the January-June mini catalog. Did you know that when you purchase a bundle you save 10%?! And it's always great to have a punch or die set that perfectly coordinates with the stamp set you're getting. I have been playing a lot with color here lately and decided to make two very simple cards using the same layout - one with bold colors and the other with soft spring colors. Which do you like best?
For my project this week I decided to use the Oval Occasions bundle found on page 65 of the catalog. I love that this is a double punch - easy to layer. And for the larger images in the set that need the scalloped oval punch, you can easily layer it with other larger punches like I did with my cards today.
For my first card, I decided to go bold with color featuring a black and white combo with a splash of melon mambo. The polka-dotted patterned paper is from the True Love DSP pack, one of my favorites from this mini catalog! I decided to leave it as is (although I was very tempted to sponge on some color) and pair it a with melon mambo card stock mat. I stamped the sentiment with Jet Black Stazon ink, cut it out with the Double Oval punch using the larger scallop oval, and then colored the leaves of the sentiment with a Granny Apple Green stampin' write marker. This was layered over a piece of melon mambo card stock cut out with the Everyday Label punch cut from from the melon mambo card stock mat (remember how I shared this tip last week?). And to easily cut out the notch in my basic black card stock strip I pulled out the Banner Triple punch.
This second card features lovely soft colors of Spring pulled from the patterned paper that I used from the Sand & Sea DSP pack. I wanted to show that the patterns aren't limited to just beachy cards. Here I used sahara sand card stock for the base card, layered it with so saffron card stock, added a notched strip of seaside spray cardstock and matted it with a piece of pear pizzazz card stock cut out using the Label Me Lovely punch. The bunnies in the sentiment image are colored with sahara sand stampin' write markers, the leaves are colored with a pear pizzazz stampin' write marker, and the flowers are colored using blushing bride and so saffron stampin' write markers. I accidentally glued the pear pizzazz punch too low on the card, so added a pretty bow made from the braided linen trim to finish the card. Just an embellishment opportunity, right?!
So which is your favorite? Isn't it amazing how color can totally change the feel of a card?! This is a clean and simple card layout that can be used for many cards! And don't forget to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog for more January-June product bundles card ideas and inspiration.
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous week!
