Hi there and welcome to the March 2021 Stampers Dozen Blog Hop! This month we are sharing birthday cards and I decided to use the Beautiful Friendship stamp set that I still had on my crafting table from my project for Sunday Fun Day earlier today. I created this simple card with a coordinating little chocolate favor created using the Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box die set.
Here is the card - I kept the layout super simple with a panel cut to 4-3/4" x 3-1/2" with a mat cut to 4-7/8" x 3-5/8". Colors used are Highland Heather (card stock mat and flowers), Pear Pizzazz (leaves), Soft Suede (flower centers) and Early Espresso (sentiment). For added interest, some of the images are second generation stamping (when you stamp again without reinking to get a lighter color). I left the inside of the card blank.
How stinking cute is this little favor? It holds just about 3-4 chocolates and is the perfect little something to give to a friend or as a favor for a party. I stamped all four panels with the small flower image, using the same colors as the card. Because they are stamped onto Highland Heather card stock, the colors appear darker than the card but still coordinate beautifully.
I decided to go ahead and make a whole set of these birthday cards, perfect to have on hand for all year long. Which one is your favorite? I love how color can totally change the feel of a card. Scroll down to see close-ups of each one.
Here's a little tip that is great to remember when you're using a mat of card stock which is sandwiched between a stamped focal panel and card base - use your favorite punches to cut out from the middle. This will not only reduce the final weight of your card (might save you some postage!), but will also provide you with extra punches to have on hand for other projects. Waste not want not, right?!
These three cards all use the same colors as the Highland Heather card above, I just swapped out the flower image and mat card stock color - 1) Seaside Spray, 2) Flirty Flamingo and 3) So Saffron. They're all great colors for light and airy spring cards.
For this card, I went a little bolder and used the new In Color Magenta Madness for the flowers, so felt like Old Olive would be better for the leaves. I also used Early Espresso for the centers of the flowers in addition to the sentiment. This card reminds me of Summer, whereas the others remind me of Spring. I think it is better for someone with a bolder personality, what do you think? Which do you prefer?
And here is one final view of my card. For even more birthday card ideas and inspiration, please be sure to check out the rest of the projects on the Hop by using the links below.
