Hello and Happy Friday! This week we're sharing cards created using a technique featuring ink refills for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog. Ink Refills are such a fabulous product - inexpensive (just $3.75/bottle) and so versatile! I had a hard time choosing which one to use, but in the end picked an oldie but a goodie. The Shaving Cream technique is certainly messy, but always provides such interesting backgrounds. I was able to make 4 unique "marbled" panels that I used to create 4 quick and easy birthday cards. All four cards feature the same colors (cajun craze, crushed curry, terracotta tile and whisper white), punches (Label Me Lovely, Small Bloom and Timeless Label), sentiments from the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set and bling from the Holiday Rhinestones pack. I'll be sharing step-by-step instructions on my blog over the weekend on how to create these fun backgrounds, so be sure to check back or subscribe if you want it coming to your Inbox when published.
As you can see in this photo, I got four very different backgrounds using this technique. I mixed and matched the cardstock in order to create the cards, using 3/4 of a sheet of the four colors of card stock for the cards. Each sheet was cut in half length-wise to make my 11" x 4-1/4" card base, then I used half of the remaining piece to cut my 5-1/4" x 4" mat pieces. From that piece I punched the Label Me Lovely punch and the Small Bloom flowers since it was sandwiched between the marbled panel and the card base (nice way to take maximize your card stock use!). Close-ups of each card can be seen below...
This card was made from the first generation of the marbling so has the most depth of color. I really like the striations of color.
This card was made using the second generation - you can see that the colors are starting to blend and become more muted.
This card is from the third generation of the marbling and I love how swirly and muted the colors are.
Here is the last card - I'm not sure why there is that dark streak at the top but kind of like how it stands out on the background. For even more ink refill stamping technique ideas and insiration, please be sure to hop on over to the Sisters in Stamping blog.
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous weekend!
