Hello and Happy Friday! Today the theme for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog is masculine cards. These are always so hard for me because I just love flowers, ribbon and bling - three things that are never on these types of cards. I decided to use a few of my retiring products since I won't be able to feature them much longer... did you figure out which 3 I used?
This card features a deer image from Dashing Deer which is a Christmas set (love that versatility!) as well the foliage image from Country Road. I used the 1" circle punch with a post-it note to create my mask for the moon. I will miss all of these procucts!!
It has been a while since I have done a sponged silhouette card and I forgot how much I love these. I used a torn sheet of paper to sponge the darker half of the panel, which had been cut out with one of the the Stitched Nested Labels dies, which is thankfully not retiring. I cut the sentiment out using the Classic Label punch, also not retiring. The background was created using the Birch stamp - I just love large background stamps and this one will also be available in the new annual catalog. My color palette for this card includes night of navy, soft suede and whisper white card stock as well as Jet Black StazOn, crumb cake, early espresso, night of navy, so saffron and soft suede inks.
This view shows you how I sponged the panel as well as the background piece - my best advice for sponging is to start lightly. You can always add more ink, but cannot take it away! The "moon" was too white when I took the mask off so I went over it lightly with so saffron ink.
Here is one last view of my card. Please be sure to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to check out what my fellow designers created this week for even more masculine card ideas and inspiration.
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous weekend!
