Fabulous Friday: Inspiring Iris sympathy card

Hello and Happy Friday! Today we were challenged with creating sympathy cards for Fabulous Friday over on the Sisters in Stamping blog. With all of the flowers blooming outside I wanted to make a floral card and chose to use the Inspiring Iris stamp set.

This stamp set is great - you can stamp the detail and color them in with the solid image stamps (as I did in my card), or color them with an aqua painter, stampin' blends, stampin' markers or even watercolor pencils. My favorite irises are the purple ones, what about you?

Here is another view of the card so you can see the texture that was added to the Gorgeous Grape card stock. Oooops, didn't realize I had picked a retired folder (Stylish Scroll) - so sorry! But really, any embossing folder works! I had cut some extra nested stitched labels earlier and used a larger one that would fit the iris image as well as have room for the sentiment below. I wrapped some linen thread around the panel several times and tied it off with a knot. I love the texture that this trim adds to a card!

From this angle you can really see the texture of the card stock. Speaking of texture, did you know that Stampin' Up! was able to figure out a way to get the illusion of texture in their stamps? Check out the Garden Green foliage and Highland Heather iris flowers - doesn't it look like there is texture in the coloring? I really love two-step stamping, it makes coloring detail images very quick and easy which is definitely my kind of stamping!

Here is one last view of my card - I kept it very clean and simple and the inside is blank so there's lots of room to write a note to your loved one. Due to family medical issues my fellow Sisters in Stamping designers are taking the week off. I hope you enjoyed my project and got some inspiration to make a few of your own cards this weekend.
