Hello and Happy Friday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring back-to-school projects because once again it is that time of year. My girls are back at college this week, ready to start classes on Monday, and my son has been in school since August 14th! It is hard to believe that summer vacation is over for them already. Having pretty notepads to write in makes school just a little less painful, don't you think? That's why I created this set of a covered notepad and post-it pad using the Free as a Bird stamp set and Magnolia Lane DSP.
Here is a side-view of the notepad - it is an inexpensive one I picked up and covered with mossy meadow cardstock - I measured it and added a quarter inch at the top for the binding and added an inch to adhere to the cardboard backing. Easy-peasy! Once that was done, I just decorated it as if it were a very large 5" x 8" card. The sentiment, bird and leaf images were stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink (so I could color them using stampin' blends markers) on whisper white card stock cut out using the Stitched Nested Labels thinlits. I then stamped the bird again on a scrap piece of whisper white card stock, colored it with stampin' blends markers and cut it out and mounted it to the label die-cut.
Here is a side-view of my covered post-it pad. I used the new Timeless label punch as the base for the bird. These covered post-it pads are great to have on your desk, in your car and even in your purse - they make great party favors so remember them when you host your next baby or bridal shower!
Here is another look at my projects. For even more back-to-school ideas and inspiration, please hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what my fellow designers created this week.
