Hi there and welcome to the July 2019 Stampers Dozen Blog Hop! This month we are featuring coloring techniques and I chose to use three different techniques to "color my world" - aqua painters, stampin' blend markers and a stampin' sponge. This quick and easy card literally took me about 15 minutes to put together - I honestly think it took me longer to get the bow tied just right than it took to color the image using my aqua painter. I love how easy it is to use an aqua painter grabbing ink from the lid of my ink pad. Using an aqua painter with watercolor paper makes is super easy to quickly push the color around.
This layout is super simple and I added just a hint of texture to the Seaside Spray card stock using the Subtle dynamic texture folder.
For some reason the Seaside Spray ink used to watercolor the sky is looking gray-ish in the photo. In real life it coordinates beautifully with the card stock. I used Petal Pink ink for the piggy, Garden Green ink for the grass and leaf and Daffodil Delight ink for the flower. Don't forget when watercoloring it is best to use StazOn ink. However, you really should stick to red rubber stamps as StazOn ink isn't good for photopolymer stamps. When I use those, I grab my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and use my Stampin' Blends markers to color. Speaking of Stampin' Blends, did you notice the little rhinestone in the center of the flower? I colored it using the Light Real Red Stampin' Blends marker (did you know you can color pearls and rhinestones with these?!?!?).
And how about that ribbon - I didn't have the new Petal Pink one yet so I colored the silver-edge ribbon with a stampin' sponge and my Petal Pink ink pad. For this I recommend a light touch - you can always add more ink but can never take it away. That is a good rule, in general, when using a stampin' sponge.
Here is one more view of my card that was colored using an Aqua Painter, stampin' sponge and a Stampin' Blends marker. For even more coloring inspiration, be sure to check out the rest of the projects on the Hop by using the links below.
