Hello and Happy Friday! Did you know that today, June 14th is National Strawberry Shortcake Day? It is my favorite cake and was always my birthday cake growing up since strawberries are in season at the end of May. In honor of that, we are using this graphic as our color inspiration this week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog with a red, yellow and white color combo for Fabulous Friday.
So I cheated a little and used some old olive for the leaves, but how stunning is this large flower image from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set set when colored with daffodil delight?! I kept my card layout super clean and simple so that the large flower image was really the main focal point of the card.
I first stamped the large flower image on my whisper white card stock piece then colored just the leaves and stem with my Stampin' Blends markers. Once dry, I ran it through with the Subtle 3D texture folder. This is a carryover item from last year's annual catalog but is currently not in stock so you can't order it just yet if you don't have it already. It really gives the look of linen I think and adds just a subtle (hence the name) bit of texture to the card stock which I love! I stamped the sentiment on a piece of scrap whisper white card stock and then cut that out with the Pretty Label punch - super clean and simple but I really like how it sets off against the textured card front.
Here's a close-up of the magnolia flower - I stamped it on a piece of scrap whisper white card stock, colored it with my Daffodil Delight and Real Red Stampin' Blend markers and then fussy cut it and mounted it with stampin' dimensionals on top of the image on the card front. Here you can see a little more of the texture that was added by the embossing folder.
Here is a photo of the inside of the card - I stamped this pretty border stamp with real red ink at the bottom for a little pizzazz since I didn't add a sentiment.
Here is one last view of my card. This card is clean and simple and came together relatively quickly. For even more fabulous card ideas and inspiration featuring this strawberry shortcake inspired color combination please hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what my fellow designers created this week.
Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous weekend!
