Hello and Happy Friday! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring Designer Series Paper (DSP). This very versatile product is a card maker's secret weapon for making quick and easy cards. These gorgeous sheets come in packs that are sized at 6" x 6" and also 12" x 12" so they're ideal for all paper crafters. Stampin' Up! takes the guesswork out by having coordinating patterns and colors with multiple designs to choose from so the possibilities are pretty endless.
I chose to use the Painted Seasons DSP package that is only available through the end of this month as a Sale-a-Bration selection. You can earn it for FREE with a $50 order -or- as part of a bundle with a coordinating stamp set with a $100 order. The beauty of this DSP is that you actually get 3 of each double-sided design. There are 8 different designs in this pack and they are all great!
I have used this card layout before - it starts with a 4" x 4" square of DSP (you can easily get 9 from a single sheet of 12" x 12" DSP!) which is cut on the diagonal. If you attach it to the outside edges of a piece of whisper white card stock cut to 5-1/4" x 4" you're left with a 1" channel that is perfect for adding a sentiment and punch or die-cut. I just love this little dog punch that you can purchase in a bundle with the Happy Tails stamp set - the heart is a part of it, too. The stamp set sentiments are perfect for the dog lover in your life. You could easily make this same card with the Cat punch for loved ones who are cat people. Isn't it funny that most people or usually one or the other?
This sentiment from the Abstract Impressions stamp set worked perfectly with this gorgeous flower design in the Painted Seasons DSP. Losing a beloved pet is so difficult - the grief is very real and a hand made card would certainly let the recipient know how much you care about them.
This sentiment is from the Happy Tails set and I love the little paw image that is also in this set. It works perfectly for this sympathy card.
Here is one last view of my card. This card layout is really fantastic and tailor-made for 12" x 12" DSP since you get 9 pieces from one sheet with no waste. I hope you'll give it a try! For even more fabulous Designer Series Paper card ideas and inspiration, please hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what my fellow designers created this week.
