Fabulous Friday: Last Minute Quick & Easy Christmas gift idea

 

  Happy Friday!  Christmas is almost here and this week we are bringing you some quick & easy last-minute gift ideas for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog.  Mine is soooo quick and easy - I wrapped a large candy bar with some Be Merry DSP and Quilted Christmas ribbon and stamped a quick tag using the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set.  If you wanted to jazz up your gift a little, give a gift certificate in a Christmas card and this candy bar and you're good to go! 

  Here is a photo of the tag - super quick and simple using a couple of punches (Everyday Label and Pretty Label) and then embellished with some rhinestone jewels.  For even more Quick & Easy Christmas projects please be sure to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog  to check out what the other designers created this week.

Fabulous Friday: Christmas ornament

  Happy Friday!  Christmas is right around the corner and Karla asked us to create Christmas ornaments this week for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog.  Mine is quick and easy - I filled a glass ornament that I picked up at a big box craft store with 16 pieces of 1/4" x 3" strips from the Be Merry DSP pack that I curled. 

  To create the corkscrews, I first broke the paper fibers on each strip by running them against the edge of my closed paper snips (much like you do with curling ribbon) and then wrapped it around a pencil. The corkscrews were easy to drop inside the ornament once I removed the top.  I cut the gold ribbon that was the loop on the ornament and replaced it with a loop of the pretty cherry cobbler double-stitched ribbon.  I then re-purposed the gold ribbon to tie on my little tag that was stamped with the Labels to Love stamp set and cut out with the coordinating Everyday Label punch.  Easy-peasey!!

Stampers Dozen: Non-Traditional Christmas

  Welcome if you're coming from Bonnie's blog on this hop!  In case you couldn't tell from this blog post title, we are featuring non-traditional Christmas cards in the Stampers Dozen blog hop this month - that means NO red and green.

 

   I decided to try combining some purples - elegant eggplant and perfect plum - along with crumb cake and whisper white to create my two cards.  I really like how they work with these more whimsical style stamp sets.

 

   This 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" mini card (perfect as a tag for a gift bag) features images from the Watercolor Christmas stamp set.  Although this stamp set coordinates with a card kit in the Holiday catalog, I think it works great on its own.  I really love the font on the sentiment and the three Christmas tree images are cute!  I used two for this card - one in the bottom corner and the other on the elegant eggplant strip.

 

  This full-sized card features the Flurry of Wishes snowflake stamp set that I have used so much... I was thrilled when it carried over from the Holiday catalog last year.  The sentiment fit perfectly inside the Everyday Label punch, too.  I layered it with the 1-3/4" circle punch (perfect plum) and one additional label punch (elegant eggplant) to create the focal point.  I embellished a few of the snowflakes with a little rhinestone jewel - you can never have enough bling on a Christmas card!

  And don't forget to stamp the inside of a card - I used the larger snowflake to peek from the bottom corner and stamped a simple Merry Christmas on the inside with perfect plum ink.  Simple, but pretty.  For more non-traditional Christmas inspiration, please use the links below.  Thanks for visiting me and enjoy the rest of the blog hop!!

Fabulous Friday: Quick & Easy Party Favor

  Happy Friday!  They are calling for our first snowfall this afternoon and I can't even believe it... we are not used to dealing with snow here in Central Virginia so I hope it holds off until tonight.  With Christmas just a short two weeks away, Rachel asked us to create quick & easy party favors for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog.  I created this open-end sour cream container that my friend and fellow demonstrator Barb Mullikin shared on her blog earlier this week. You can see that post here, complete with a video.

 

   Regular sour cream containers are crimped or held shut with strong adhesive and you basically have to destroy them to get into the candy inside.  I loved this idea when I saw it because the receiver can re-gift it on to someone else once they eat their candy inside.  If you haven't tried making these they are super-easy!

  Cut a sheet of DSP to 6" x 5-1/2".  Score along the 6" side at 1/2" so that you when that flap is folded over you end up with a 5-1/2" square.  Use a bone folder to curve the DSP so that you can roll it into a tube easier.  I used tear & tape adhesive and this came together in minutes.  I embellished it with two images from the Labels to Love stamp set and cut the tag out with the coordinating Everyday Label punch.  Added a few rhinestones and attached it to the sour cream container with stampin' dimensionals.  Doesn't get much easier than that!

  This week's card features the Carols of Christmas stamp set and Merry Music specialty DSP from the Holiday catalog.  These two pair up beautifully!

  Don't forget about the inside of your card - just a little strip of DSP goes a long way when added with a sentiment.

Fabulous Friday: Merry Mistletoe gift card holder

 

 Happy Friday!  I can't even believe today is the first day of December... where has this year gone?  To help get you ready for Christmas, Jennifer tasked us with designing gift card holder ideas this week for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog.   Because if you're like me and have those hard-to-shop-for loved ones, gift cards make the perfect gift!  I created this double-pocket card featuring the Merry Mistletoe stamp set from the Annual catalog.

 

  I wanted to make a double pocket card - the first pocket holds the gift card and the back pocket holds a card that you can pull out and write on.  It took me a while to figure out how to do this, but I really like how it turned out.  This gift card holder fits inside a regular envelope so no extra postage required to send it.  The little bow from the Holly builder punch is perfect for tucking the flap under.  I embellished it with a rhinestone jewel and placed it over the stamped image that was heat embossed with clear powder.

 

  The whole thing is held closed with a belly band.  I heat embossed the deer image with silver powder and then cut it out with the oval stitched shape framelit.  To embellish Rudolph, I colored a rhinestone jewel with my cherry cobbler stampin' blends marker (YES!).  Check out the Quilted Christmas ribbon - isn't it perfect?
