Fabulous Friday: Black Friday inspired color combo card

 Happy Friday!  In honor of Black Friday I asked my fellow designers to create a project that features the color combination of black, white and yellow that is inspired by the photo above for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog. 

  I love this bright and happy color combination and am happy with how my card turned out. I relied heavily on my Big Shot to get these beautiful diecuts - both from the Flourish thinlits set.  I decided I wanted mostly daffodil delight and whisper white on my card with accents of basic black.  I can't wait to see how the other projects look with this color combination.

 

  Here is a close up of the die-cuts - thank goodness for the fine-tip glue pen. It made gluing this delicate piece of card stock super easy!  The sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and I notched the end with the Classic Label punch. Lastly, I added a little bling with a few rhinestone jewels.

Fabulous Friday: Painted Harvest Thank You Card and Gift

 

  Happy Friday!  With Thanksgiving come up next week, Karla asked us to design Thankful cards and gifts as the theme for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog. I created this thank you card with matching candy favor featuring the Painted Harvest stamp set.  

 

  Here is a close up of the card I created that matches the tag on the candy favor below.  I just love this two-step stamp set!  And since this is a photopolymer stamp set it is super easy to create beautiful flowers like these.  Recognize the DSP?  It's a pattern found in the Merry Little Christmas DSP... I love it when DSP has versatility like this.  I used a piece of linen thread to tie around the stamped panel - I love the texture that it adds.

 

  Here's a close-up of the candy favor. I just cut off the top flap from a clear envelope and filled it with chocolates. The tag came together super fast - I just cut a strip of whisper white card stock and used my Scalloped Tag Topper punch to cut the top and then stamped the flower and sentiment.  I trimmed off what I didn't need and tied it on with some whisper white baker's twine. Stampers Dozen: Foiled Snowflake Carols of Christmas

  Welcome if you're coming from Bonnie's blog on this hop!  In case you couldn't tell from this blog post title, we are featuring FOIL in the Stampers Dozen blog hop this month.  

Foil Sheets by Stampin' Up!

   Stampin' Up! offers three different colors of foil sheets in the Annual catalog - copper, gold and silver, as well as a gorgeous new champagne in the Holiday catalog.  I was pretty excited when I learned the theme for this month because I have not used these foil sheets before... having now done so I can say I absolutely LOVE them!!  They take embossing in the Big Shot beautifully as you can see in my card below.

 

  I love silver and think it pairs beautifully with night of navy, marina mist, smoky slate and whisper white for a Christmas card.  Once I decided on my card type I knew I wanted to try embossing the silver foil - the Holly texture folder for the Big Shot is perfect.  I decided to use the Flurry of Wishes stamp set along with a sentiment from Carols of Christmas.

  Not only did I use silver foil for my banner, but I also added it as layer on my card front.  Here's a tip - whenever you have a layer of card stock that is sandwiched between the card base and a stamped panel be sure to punch out some shapes from the center (like shown above),  It will allow you to use card stock that won't be seen AND it will take some of the weight off your card - something to consider if you are mailing your card.  I can't wait to use these punched out pieces on another project!

 

  And don't forget to stamp the inside of a card - I really like the way this turned out.  Aren't the dangling ornaments cute?

Fabulous Friday: Personalized gift for a friend

 

  Happy Friday!  Rachel chose personalized gifts as the theme for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog. I created this little pick-me-up gift for my friend Sandy, whose daughter had surgery on Monday.  Her daughter's recovery requires pain medication being administered every three hours so I know it's been a tough week for Sandy.  She also loves Hershey Kisses so I packaged some in a cute little container and made her a matching card to let her know that she needs to take care of herself, too.  A Mom's job is never done, is it?!

 

  Here is a close up of the note card I created that matches the embellishment on my candy jar.  I just love this single flower image from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  I colored it with an aqua painter, which made it super fast.  I chose to use a color palette which includes calypso coral, crumb cake, garden green and whisper white.  It's bright and cheery, just like Sandy!

Fabulous Friday: Festive Phrases Holiday Banner

  Happy Friday!  I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but it is unseasonably warm (mid-70's) here in Central Virginia and it's a little hard to believe Thanksgiving is just a couple of weeks away.  With Christmas just 7 weeks away, it's not too soon to get started on your holiday crafting.  In that light, Jennifer asked us to design holiday banners this week for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog. I created this mini banner to hang on the back of my monitor at work.

  Here is a close up of the center of my banner - don't you love the little elf in this image?  I colored the elf's boots and hat with a lemon-lime twist marker and the pants with real red.  I don't think you can see it, but I also used my Wink of Stella to add glimmer to the feather in the cap and on the boots.  And the rhinestones added some extra fun bling.

  This photo of the back of the panel shows how I strung it - I attached a circle tab to the back and threaded the ribbon through.  Because the panels slid, I had to tie each with a bit of baker's twine to hold them in place.

 Here's one more look at my banner.  I used the Stitched Shapes and Layering Ovals framelits with my Big Shot to cut out each off the banner panels and the "J" and "Y" were cut using the Large Letters thinlits.  Thanks to my Big Shot this project came together pretty easily!
