Happy Friday! Rachel has tasked us with creating a fun fold card today for our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog and I designed this one featuring my favorite In Color Lemon-Lime Twist and the cute new Cat punch for a fun Halloween card. I really love this color combination and was even able to use a strip of the Merry Little Christmas DSP on a non-Christmas project. This fold doesn't have a name because I created it on my own - it's similar to a buckle card turned on its side, but without a buckle to hold the "belt" in place because gravity holds the fold down. I really like how this turned out and will be making this type of card again.
I had not used the Hand Lettered Alphabet set yet, but found these photopolymer stamps make it so easy for placement of the letters. I think the "boo" on the moon turned out great. To get this cat silhouette look on the focal panel I first punched out the cat from a piece of whisper white larger than the circle that I wanted. Once that was done I took the piece that was left over to my Big Shot and cut out the large circle using the Layering Circles framelits, placing the cat cut-out where I wanted. Easy-peasey! The great thing about using the silhouette is that you can turn the cat image either way... if you'll notice, my cat faces right. I had to flip my "moon" over because I accidently got a splotch of ink on it... but no worries, you can't even tell because I was able to flip it over. I love that!
Here's another view of my card from the side so you can see how the folds are. I wanted to add a little embellishment to the banner piece so stapled a piece of the mini silver sequin trim. I also took two individual sequins and glued them to the cat's face for some spooky eyes. Fun! I highly recommend using the fine-tip glue for these tiny sequins.
