QE card: Birthday Blooms watercolored card

  Happy Monday - I hope you and your loved ones had a very Happy Easter!  My daughter Kelsey and I spent 16 hours in the car on a road trip to visit my cousin and his wife in Chicago and we're thrilled to discover this beautiful city!  I'll be sharing photos from our trip on my Instagram account.  In the meantime, here is this week's QE card featuring the Bloomin' Birthday stamp set from the Occasions catalog.  Believe it or not, watercoloring is quick and easy when you use an aqua painter.

  Here is a close-up the flowers - I added some shimmer with my gold Wink of Stella glitter brush after the flowers had dried.  It's hard to tell, but it is really pretty in real life.  I also splattered some all over the card.

Fabulous Friday: All about Numbers 25th Anniversary card

 

  Happy Good Friday!  Are you ready for the Easter weekend?  I'm excited to be taking next week off to do a road trip with my daughter Kelsey to visit family in Chicago.  We've never been there so it will be a great week of exploring the windy city!!  And now on to my Fabulous Friday project... this week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are focusing on numbers as the theme for our projects.  I decided to get ahead of the game and make a 25th anniversary card that I'll give to my husband in July.  It's hard to believe we've been married that long!

 

  I kept my colors simple - whisper white, smoky slate and basic gray - and relied heavily on my Big Shot to cut out the Bloomin' heart thinlit, numbers and add the striped texture.  On the inside of the card I stamped Happy Anniversary using the Number of Years stamp set from the Occasions catalog (I purchased in a bundle with the thinlits and saved 15%!). 

 

  Here's one more view of my project...   Happy Monday - I hope you had a great weekend!  We spent ours at the pool in Spartanburg, SC, cheering on my son Brandon in his Y Regional championship swim meet.  And he did GREAT!  We were so proud that his hard work in practice all season paid off with great swims.  But, we got in really late last night after his final swim of the night so I apologize for the delay in getting my card posted today.  I made this one on my lunch hour using this month's Paper Pumpkin stamp set (it's super cute!) and the Cherry on Top DSP stack that I keep in my desk drawer.

Fabulous Friday: Altered K-Cup favors

  Happy Friday!  I am spending the weekend cheering on my son Brandon at his Y Regional championship swim meet in Spartanburg, SC, starting today so this post is a little late since I was having WiFi issues at our hotel last night. This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog, Jennifer asked us to create projects with a coffee/tea theme for our Fabulous Friday designs and I decided to make some fun altered K-Cup holders with these mini coffee cups.  Aren't they cute?! These little favors were a big hit at my Christmas craft shows and I thought it would be fun to create some with a Spring theme using the Pretty Petals DSP stack.  Check out the paper flowers that were made using the new Blossom Bunch punch from the Occasions catalog - so fun and easy!  

  I pulled my colors from the DSP - calypso coral, mint macaron, pacific point and very vanilla.  Isn't it great how different these three favors turned out all using DSP from the same stack?!  If you haven't purchased these 6" x 6" DSP stacks, they really are a great deal for $8.00!  You get 48 sheets with 4 each of 12 different designs.  You'll find 3 stacks in the Annual catalog on page 144 (Go Wild, Cherry on Top and Pretty Petals) and 3 stacks in the Occasions catalog on page 17 (Love Blossoms), page 35 (Have a Cuppa) and page 39 (Going Places).  These stacks are great for card makers AND scrapbookers!!

  This photo is a close-up of the paper flower - I punched two sets of the three flowers using the Blossom Bunch punch and put them together after curling the petals upward with my fingers.  I do have stampin' dimensionals between the different sizes to give the flower more dimension.  I added a large pearl to the center and voila... easy-peasy beautiful 3D paper flower!

QE card: Birthday Bouquet card

 

  Happy Monday - I hope you had a great weekend!  Have you adjusted to the time change yet?  I know I haven't!  But the time change always means Spring is right around the corner... and that means flowers will be in bloom!  In the meantime, here are some gorgeous paper flowers in this week's Quick & Easy card features the gorgeous Birthday Bouquet DSP pack.  I always need birthday cards and this QE card surely fits the bill.  The sentiment is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set which coordinates beautifully with the DSP.

  Becuase I wanted the DSP to take center stage on this card, I just added the sentiment with a double layer of card stock and a few pearls to keep things simple.  The pool party glitter ribbon adds a nice touch as well.

Fabulous Friday: Easter Bloom card

    Happy Friday!  I hope you've had a fabulous week!!  This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog I chose Easter cards as the theme for our Fabulous Friday designs since it will be here shortly.  I decided to use my new Birthday Bloom stamp set that I recently ordered - I usually don't enjoy coloring OR cutting, but this flower was just too pretty to pass up!  

 

  I decided to keep the embellishments clean and simple so that the focal point of the card would be this gorgeous flower.  I colored the image with stampin' write markers - blushing bride, garden green, rose red and wild wasabi - and added a small bit of pink pirouette seam binding ribbon.  The wild wasabi background piece has texture added from the Big Shot and Stylish Stripes textured impressions folder.

   This photo is a close-up of the flower - can you see the glimmer that I added to the rose red parts of the flower using a Wink of Stella clear glitter brush?  In real life it really shimmers and shines!

QE card: Bloomin' Hearts celebrate card

  Happy Monday - I hope you had a great weekend!  It's starting to warm up here in Central Virginia and I just know Spring is right around the corner, which makes me very happy because I love flowers and seeing everything turn green again!  Speaking of flowers, this week's Quick & Easy card features a few.  I need birthday cards all the time, and this QE card shows you the versatility of the Bloomin' Hearts thinlit - it's not just for Valentine's Day!  I think it looks really beautiful on this birthday card, don't you?!  I embellished it simply with a few little flowers and added some pizzazz with a strip of sequins.  And with this simple "celebrate!" sentiment you could use it for more than a birthday... it could be given to someone who earned a promotion, for a bridal shower, and even an Anniversary.

Fabulous Friday: Pedal Pusher Sale-a-Bration stamp set

    Happy Friday Saturday! (Sorry, I just realized this never posted yesterday)!  I hope you've had a fabulous week!!  This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog Karla asked us to create projects featuring Sale-a-Bration products for our Fabulous Friday designs.  I decided to use my new Pedal Pusher stamp set that just arrived this week in my latest order.  I think this set is soooo cute!  I'm longing for spring, so decided to use the very spring-y colors: cucumber crush, daffodil delight and watermelon wonder.  

 

  I haven't made a Z-fold card in a while - they're fun and super-easy, especially when you use the Stampin' Trimmer which has both a cutting and scoring blade.  All you need to do is make one additional score line - the first at 5-1/2" and then another at 8-1/4" on the 11" side of the card stock.  Fold the card in half at the 5-1/2" score line and fold it in the opposite direction at the other and voila - a z-fold card!

 

  This photo is a close-up of my image - I added the basket and flowers to the front of the bicycle and then colored the image using stampin' write markers and an aqua painter.  I added little bits of glimmer with the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush on the handles and pedals (kind of hard to photograph).  I kept the embellishment simple - a piece of textured card stock using the Big Shot and Stylish Stripes textured impressions folder and some crushed curry baker's twine.
