Happy Friday and thanks for visiting! This week we are featuring the color black in our Fabulous Friday projects over on the Sisters in Stamping blog in honor of Black Friday today. I didn't get up early and shop - did you? Instead, I slept in and got up in time to create this project to share today! I got my inspiration for this card from the Decorative Corner Card tutorial that was posted on the Splitcoast Stampers website this week (found here). The only thing I would change next time is rather than add a strip to the center, I would create it like a 2-4-6-8 box and have a 1/2" tab to hold it all together. That way you'd have 2" sides rather than 2-1/8", which I think makes it easier for cutting the mats...
I just love the Watercolor Wings bundle - those butterflies are so pretty and easy to cut out with the matching framelits! I used the Tuxedo black ink pad for my Flowering Flourishes background because I love the softness of it against the richness of the basic black card stock. I added just a pop of color with my tempting turquoise butterfly and sentiment... and of course had to embellish with some bling-y rhinestones!
This card is actually a box that opens up and would look really pretty on a shelf or on your desk. It folds flat, though, for easy mailing! Here are some photos of the back of my card (where I will write)... I didn't want to leave it so plain and white so added the flowers in the corners. This tutorial was very easy to follow and my card came together surprisingly fast.
Here is a view of the top of the card.
Here's one last view - I highly recommend you try making one of these cards! It's so impressive yet pretty easy to put together! And for even more black project ideas, please be sure to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog later this afternoon.
