Happy Saturday! I recently stumbled onto the Sorority Sketches blog where Kristin is deconstructing cards from the Annual Stampin' Up! catalog and creating a card sketch layout each week. This week's Sketch #2 is this one...

I decided to try this sketch and since the deadline to link up is today I designed these cards on my lunch hour yesterday with limited supplies. I have my retired Texture Boutique on my desk (because you never know when you need to add texture to something!) and luckily had the current Large Polka Dot impressions folder to use along with some assorted card stock and inks (I bring the ink spots from My Paper Pumpkin kits each month to keep in my desk drawer). However, I had no DSP, so I just created my own with stamps and ink on whisper white card stock!

Since we no longer have the color coach, I tried out this great site that helps you put color combinations together: Create, Ink Color Lab. The colors I wanted to feature were pear pizzazz, whisper white and perfect plum and I decided to try the third option which included marina mist and blushing bride. This is a great interactive site and best of all, it is FREE to use!
Here's a close-up view of the pear pizzazz card which is the first one I created. I wasn't quite sure if I liked it or not so got some input from my sister Cindy and friend Debbie W. They suggested I try it with either a perfect plum or blushing bride base...

And here is the perfect plum version. I changed the sentiment ink to Memento Tuxedo Black ink so that it would stand out more.

And this is my blushing bride version. In order to not have the large flower washed out on the blushing bride background, I changed the ink color to perfect plum.
Are you like me and keep some stamping supplies in a desk drawer at work? There have been countless times that I wanted to cheer up a co-worker, or give someone a birthday or thank you card and having these supplies at hand has made it super-easy to whip up a quick card during my lunch break.
So, which card is your favorite? I think I am leaning toward the perfect plum card... Debbie and Cindy prefer the blushing bride card. That's what makes color so great... it can totally change the project and is such a personal thing!
