Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by today! This week over on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring scrapbooking projects in honor of National Scrapbooking month during May. I know I am guilty of hoarding boxes and boxes of photos and now they're just eating up space on my laptop hard drive, too. I had a lot of fun doing this page today and plan to get back to what brought me to Stampin' Up! in the first place - traditional scrapbooking.
I am going to be a vendor at an upcoming Crop to benefit a local Relay for Life team and needed to come up with a fun and easy make-n-take. I decided to go with a 6" x 6" page since that will fit most any type of scrapbook. This page features the Stippled Blossoms and Feel Goods stamp sets. I think the colors I used will work with almost any photo.. but I think it will look especially good with a black and white one since this has a bit of a vintage feel.
Here is a close-up of the flower embellishment. I love two-step stamping! I did cut out the bud and blossom to pop them up (also makes it easier to slip a larger photo under the embellishment). I used so saffron (stamped off once) for the base and crushed curry for the detail. The leaves were done with pear pizzazz (stamped off once for the base and full strength for the detail). I did also sponge around the entire piece of naturals white card stock with crumb cake to age it.
Everyone who completes the make-n-take will also be given a full sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" crumb cake card stock and can add the smaller layout to it like above and put it in a frame (cut down to 8" x 10") or add it to a larger 12" x 12" page like my project this week when they get home. Instead of just having a plain background, I took the detail image from one of the smaller flowers and stamped it randomly all over with crumb cake ink to resemble a sheet of designer paper. I love doing that with my stamps!
It was easy to take it to the next step by attaching a crushed curry border at the bottom from the dotted scallop ribbon border punch and then adding it to a piece of 12" x 12" old olive card stock. I also added a border of daffodil delight DSP from the Brights stack that I sponged with crumb cake along with four photo squares. To finish the page, I stamped this great sentiment in the From My Heart stamp set once with crumb cake and then the word "Enjoying" with soft suede ink and cut it out using the Apothecary Accents framelits with my Big Shot. Everything was sponged with crumb cake ink and I love the way this page turned out! So as you can see, it is really easy to do a progressive scrapbook page when you start with a 6" x 6" clean and simple layout. I hope you give it a try!
