Welcome to Fabulous Friday! I can't believe it's here already... where has the week gone?! This week on the Sisters in Stamping blog we are featuring projects made with Stampin' Up! exclusive fabrics.
Here is my contribution - it is a notepad holder. I've made many of these in the past with card stock but thought it would be fun to try it with fabric! I chose the Sweet Stitches fabric from the Occasions Mini and picked the most colorful of the three patterns.
Here is a photo of the inside of the holder. I included batting and used muslin for the inside lining. My basic knowledge of sewing is from taking Home Ec back in the 7th grade, but I managed to sew relatively straight lines to put this together... not sure I could duplicate it, though, as I figured it out as I went along (have you ever done that?!). I made a pocket to hold the notepad and covered the top of the notepad with a piece of matching DSP (don't you love how our fabrics match our gorgeous DSP?!). There's also a side pocket to hold pens, a calculator, pocket calendar, etc. Wouldn't this be great to slip in your purse?
I did figure out after sewing the sides that I forgot to add my early espresso striped ribbon for the closure... what to do? Then I remembered that we are carrying fabric adhesive for use with our Big Shot now so I ironed some on to the back of the ribbon and ironed it onto the holder... problem solved!
Please be sure and visit the Sisters in Stamping blog today after Noon EST to check out the other Fabulous Friday Fabric projects! I hope you'll be inspired to make a project yourself with our fabrics! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone...
