Happy Friday! We're in for a busy weekend - my son's swim team is hosting their first meet of the season so I'll be spending my time at the pool announcing. Sunday afternoon is my monthly Card Club meeting (I hope I still have my voice left) and I'm looking forward to spending time with these fabulous ladies! One of the cards they'll be making is this one that I designed for my Fabulous Friday project today over on the Sisters in Stamping blog. Karla asked us to design masculine cards and I chose to create this birthday card with my new Country Livin' stamp set. It has the perfect images for the men in your life - there are these great boots, a guitar and an old pickup truck. These are great for using the new watercolor pencils, too! The boots were stamped on very vanilla card stock and then cut out using the largest square from the Stitched Shapelits with my Big Shot. I added some texture to the crumb cake card stock piece with the brick wall textured impressions folder. To really make the texture pop, I sponged lightly across the entire piece in a circular motion with a stampin' sponge and crumb cake ink. I completed the card by adding a cajun craze banner and embellished with a birthday sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set that was cut out using the Classic Label punch. The finished card front was added to a soft suede card base with a very vanilla mat. Easy-peasey!
Here is a close-up view of the boots - I used the brown and black watercolor pencils to color the boots, going over the shaded areas a little heavier, and then blending the color with my aqua painter. For the shading under the boots I picked up some ink from my crumb cake ink pad that I had handy from sponging the edges of the card stock.
Here's another view of my card. I left the inside of the card simple with just a piece of very vanilla card stock. No frou-frou for this man! For even more favor inspiration please be sure to hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to check out what the other designers created this week.
