Happy Friday and thanks so much for checking in today! This week we are featuring one of my favorite line of products that Stampin' Up! carries for our Fabulous Friday cards over over on the Sisters in Stamping blog - PUNCHES! These tools are so versatile and make card-making a breeze. And when you use them in an unconventional way, like to make punch art, they're even more fabulous.
The card that I designed this week features two different punches - the Balloon Bouquet punch and the Decorative Ribbon border punch - along with the Bella & Friends stamp set, Garden Galore DSP stack and Subtle textured impressions folder for the Big Shot. Does the card seem kinda familiar? I had extra pieces on my craft table left over from my Card Club last month when they made this card, which was my Stampers Dozen blog hop card in August. A totally different card made from the same basic pieces - gotta love that!
What do you think of my 3D balloon? This is really simple to create and the layers fold flat for mailing. I started with a base of the smaller balloon cut from melon mambo card stock. Next, I punched out 5 layers of the smaller balloon cut from a piece of Garden Galore DSP. Each of these were folded in half (I did cut off the bottom notch of the balloon to make it easier to fold in half) and glued them back-to-back using Tombow multipurpose adhesive. The last two were glued to the base balloon. I easily added that to the stamped balloon image and voila - a 3D balloon. You may remember this beautiful Christmas ornament that I shared a few years ago - it's a similar idea.
I colored the images using stampin' write markers in crumb cake (Bella), flirty flamingo (Bella's collar), lemon-lime twist (parrot) and mango melody (parrot's beak).
And not forgetting the inside of the card I added a sentiment and the little parrot in the bottom corner. I glued another balloon cut-out next to the sentiment and drew the string for the balloon using a basic black stampin' write marker. You'd never know that wasn't part of the image!
Here is one more view of my card - I do love how this card turned out! For even more punch ideas please hop over to the Sisters in Stamping blog to see what my fellow designers created for your inspiration.
